The width is 3.93in. **Q: Do these ever leak?** A: No. With the caps screwed on tightly, you do not have to worry about leaks! :) **Q: are the tubes made of HDPE, or some other plastic material?** A: The tubes are plastic. However the stand to hold the tubes had parts missing.
