Will this hold 450lbs?

It is very sturdy but when you install it you don't want to use the wall anchors that come with it. Get some long, strong screws and make sure you get the bar fastened to a wall stud. The spacing on the bar only allows you to get 2 screws at the most into a stud. We securely fastened a 1 x 6 board on the wall behind the toilet and then fastened the bar thru the board and into the wall stud on the left side of the bar and thru the board and into the wall on the right side of the bar. Very sturdy. I will tell you that if you plan to flip the bar up when not using it, the screw will need to be tightened often. We ended up just leaving the bar in place. Hope this is helpful. As far as the weight limit, it should say on the product.

How is this with side to side motion assuming well fastened to wall?

Mine has NO side to side motion. It is installed in a cabin with wood walls so it it FIRMLY attached. If you are screwing it into drywall, you might ask a carpenter/ handy person for a suggestion on reinforcement. It is really nice feature once installed!

Is this rail silver/gray? It looks light lilac color on my monitor. I'm looking for a purple grab bar but didn't really want a vinyl coated one

Mine is yellow with vinyl ? coating with groves so hands don't slip. I has a leg to support it. Doesn't look too much like the one pictured at all.

Great Grab Bar

Worth every penny. very sturdy. I had my local carpenter install the bar to meet ADA Standards. What I find so great is it folds up against the wall. So when I am out of the cast and no longer needed the bar I can just flip it up out of the way. But even if I always keep it down it looks great.

Very Sturdy

I had one stud that I could get three of the six beefy #12 screws that came with into. But the due to the mounting plate design, three needed to go in drywall. The instructions tell you to use Toggler Snaptoggle anchors in drywall. I looked them over in Home Depot, and was not comfortable with them. But I took a liking to Cobra’s Walldriller Plus #12 anchors. (Can’t seem to find them on Amazon). I was pleasantly surprised at how strong they are, and made the install rock solid. Finish on this fixture is very good, and the materials have a sturdy feel. It is nice that it can be flipped up as my bathroom is small. I’m was finding as the years pass, I was having a harder time getting up off the can, so this helps significantly, and I know it will benefit others.

Fantastic idea

Fantastic idea. Wish I had installed it 20 years ago. Placed it between toilet and shower. Fold up when not needed. But put down for leaving the shower - just the right place for extra support exiting shower that I did not I needed. Installation is not for DIY. Get an expert.
