Great quality and very easy setup. Here’s what I think of them.
I purchased this as a returned item, advertised as “like new”. It was boxed and everything was presented as though it had never been opened. Perfect condition. This was purchased to replace the same model, but older, my previous ones lasted over 12 years. I replaced the batteries once, then the right earphone failed, but over 10 years is a good run for such a device. All I had to do was plug this up, install the batteries, which was really easy and instructions are provided. The instructions are so basic I initially thought they were rubbish but soon realised that there really wasn’t much to instruct anyway! Power everything up, and they worked straight away, no pairing nonsense. I tried cheaper Bluetooth headphones after my old Sennheisers failed, and they were a pain to set up and pair, and kept dropping off pairing, so got sent back. On to function. My old ones had tiny volume buttons but this had a large round button section that is easy to locate with a finger. You have volume, Bass and Surround buttons. Volume is nicely controlled. Bass is I suppose, good for music but it was too much bass for me, although it could be adjusted lower on the tv equaliser. Surround has two settings. You can see on the transmitter which setting you are on. I tend to leave it off for normal viewing but for a movie I will sometimes put surround on setting one, as it gives a subtle larger room effect. Setting two is a bit too much for my liking as the sound scape seems muddy at times. On to sound quality. You pay a bit more for these but it’s definitely worth it. Music is a pleasure on these. Lots of dynamic and depth. Stereo separation is very good, this is also evident with films as the sound scope is all around you with great clarity and detail. Voices are crystal clear and background noises are extremely well separated. On occasion I mistook a background noise, thinking it was from someone in the house behind me. Negatives? Only three I can think of which may just be down to personal preference. They are not the lightest headphones. And the fit is fairly tight. After a two hour film, it is a relief to remove them, but maybe I just need to get used to them, my previous ones seemed more comfortable. The material sealing the ear is like a fake leather, bordering on plasticky feel. They can get warm and uncomfortable after a while. I suspect this will crack in time. They block out outside noise very effectively, which may be a bonus to some people, but in order to speak with someone, I have to remove them or I can’t hear them properly even with the sound turned off. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. If I didn’t get the so cheap, I would have liked to have lighter, more comfortable headphones but that’s purely subjective. I am hopeful I will get used to them.

not what i expected from Sennheiser
having had sennheiser headphones in the past that where fantastic sounding i decided to take the plunge and boy was i dissapointed. these are definatly not for listening to music , the sound is harsh and hollow with no presence or detail. in fact they are actually unpleasant on the ear. Now in fareness the discription does state T.V headphone which is where they are in fact a clear sounding headphone with pleanty of volume if you need it and possibly perfect for the job. you do need to be in the same room as the transmitter as the signal drops out as soon as i walk into the kitchen and this is litteraly the other side of the wall. Now as stated they are aimed at T.V listening which accounts for the additional settings, these are bass and surrond at 2 different levels. they do have both optical and analogue inputs allowing two different sources to be plugged in and just a simple switch on the back of the transmitter making them compatible with older T.V's that may not have optical outputs. I have tried them on the T.V and may move them to my study for game play . and even then there are cheaper alternatives for gaming that sound better. the headphones are very comfortable to wear not heavy there are additional controls on one of the closed cups allowing you to easily switch between modes. the design is actualy really nice the headphones are furnished and finished well and the transmitter is not to big and also doubles as a charging station for the headphone unit. all in all very easy to set up and use . I definately should have paid more attention to other reviews. Please be aware that this is pureley my opinion and im sure they will meet the needs of others. Just sadly not for me.

A good sturdy set of headphones for TV
I received my new headphones, a good weight feels and looks well made, good material s used, well packaged and instructions very easy to follow, a little worried that they wouldn't connect to my older TV, (new TV) waiting on the sidelines, but not a problem, plug everything in and press button s and all done, charging was not a problem and the difference between the new and old was quite wide sound quality very good, easy of use very good, and able to change settings for films or drama perfect, the one problem I have always has been charging after use BUT it is very quick, and straight forward, you get a good long use before you need to charge again, they fit for me very comfortable, no rubbing or falling off if you look down or pick something up from the floor, a good distance of use, not fully tested yet but will get around to that, so I recommend, I Have ONE little niggle the volume could be set a little higher for my music, I know can damage your earing and there has to be a cut off number, this is the only downside for me, so far they have beaten my other three sets in quality and use a good set so far.

Good headphones with a couple of negative points
Cons: After less than a year, the covering on the cups is starting to fall off, so they will start to have a somewhat worn out appearance. Every time you remove them from the cradle they need to be turned on - would be better if they just turned back on automatically, but its not a massive issue. Pros: Sound quality is great, but obviously you are paying for that. Connectivity is great, there are no issues being on the other side of the house and through walls and floors from the base unit, with no appreciable delay Battery life has almost never been a problem, and charging is quick They are lightweight and comfortable in genral, though the width of my head does mean that they seem to be streaching furthur than they want to, which I worry is damaging to the charging port Setup is a piece of cake, its plug and play

Superb
I have tried loads of different options to listen to TV / Movies in surround sound through headphones, for late night viewing. I have tired the Sony puck, Avantrees 3d headphones, fairly much everything, unsuccessfully. I bought these as a final try and I'm so glad I did. Set up in less than five minutes, look great and are incredibly comfortable. Some reviews state the touch controls are difficult. I spent 5 minutes getting used to their position whilst wearing the headphones and I find them really easy to operate. Where I am most impressed, is the sound quality. It is awesome in two of the three settings, normal and low surround. The high surround is ok but there is too much echo on the pseudo centre speaker level, which is a shame as the surround effect is incredible. I have watched a few movies, TV shows, live concerts and I am absolutely delighted with these headphones. The bass boost is very effective for certain types of music . In summary, I love these headphones and highly recommend them.

Brilliant sound quality.
These phones function very well, lots of scope to tune them to to your own preferences of sound, the ear cushions are very soft and comfortable, they are more bulky than my older phones but you soon adjust to that because i don't find them heavy at all. Outside noise from your surroundings are banished. Initial battery charging is about 16 hours but that is to be expected in order to fully charge the batteries, after that the charging time is very good, depending on the state of charge the batteries need. I have only used them for about 4 hours to date in one sitting, also I can go right down to the bottom of my garden, {about 50ft.} without any loss of quality of sound. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Good quality, clear sound
I find the fantastic, it’s great if anyone else is in bed because the tv can be muted and I can still hear it, I wear hearing aids but not with these soo the volume on the tv doesn’t have to be anywhere near as loud so happy days

Simple and easy to set up.
I am not a "techie" and was concerned that I might come across problems because of my lack of knowledge. I am 77 years old, my hearing is not 100% and have difficulty understanding what is being said in films on TV. However, all my fears came to nothing. I unpacked the box and laid everything out on a table and examined all the bits. I simply followed the instructions provided, but it takes time to get your head around them! I decided to use the optical cable route for better sound quality, and had bought a one-into-two optical splitter for my TV. I removed the optical cable from my TV to the soundbar and connected the splitter to the TV optical out port. Then I connected the soundbar optical cable to the splitter and connected the optical cable provided to the remaining slot in the splitter. Then I connected the other end into the headphone control unit and put the switch UP on the power unit. I plugged in the supplied power cable to the control box and plugged the other end into the wall socket using the UK fitting provided. Then I removed the headphone cushions (1/4 turn to the left) installed a rechargeable battery in each side, put the cushions back on the headphones, and returned them to their orginal charging position on top of the power unit and switched on the power at the wall. A red light appeared on the power unit, to indicate the batteries were charging. This took around 10 minutes to do. The batteries need around 16 hours of charging. I left it overnight and the red light had changed to green, indicating the batteries were charged. I turned on the TV and the sound bar came to life. I switched on the headphones at the right cup and increased the volume and put them on. Everything was working as it should. Magic! I can now hear and understand speech on TV clearly. The headphones are very light, you hardly know you are wearing them and they deliver music incredibly well. I am delighted with this simple solution to age-related hearing loss. Don't waste your time watching videos on YouTube - they won't show you, step by step, how to put the RS 175 together for your system. The instructions for most techie equipment is not written by practical people and it will take you a while to read and understand them. I hope this helps.
