I am very pleased with the quality of the product. The material is heavy duty and the double zippers and strap are sturdy. Although the idea is to fill the pockets on either side of each weight with sand, I decided against that as sand attracts moisture and can seep through the zippers. After looking around, I decided the best thing to use are river stones. As you will see in the picture, they are smooth on all sides to prevent tearing at the fabric of the bag and they come in different sizes which will allow you to decide how much weight you want on each side. One 20 pound bag of stones is more than enough to fill both sides of two of the weights. I bought two bags for the four weights and each bag cost less than $13. The stones came clean of dirt but I hosed them off while inside the bag and let them dry in the sun before use. This is an inexpensive, clean, and safe solution. I sincerely doubt you will get much more sand in there than that. I also chose to use a Hefty 1 gallon freezer bag on each side for a "liner" to hold the sand, which will hopefully reduce the likelihood of the sand leaking out and also keep it dry when used outside during inclimate weather. **Q: What kind of polyester material is this? Cordura? 1680D, 600D, etc** A: Don’t know they are very heavy duty made well used them a lot never lose sand **Q: Can these be used for exercising ?** A: I bought them for that express purpose: Exercise. Right now i have a 5-lb neoprene-coated barbell in each pocket. Each bag has two pockets, like a saddlebag. Each pocket is double-zippered, and seems sturdy enough for anything without sharp edges. I wouldn’t swing wildly, and will let you know if anything goes haywire! Definitely you could load each double-zippered pocket with gravel, up to 10-12 lbs total. I like the idea that I can pack these empty for travel and just load some “whatever” in them for workouts on the road. Why not some full soup cans? Just don’t windmill them or you might end up with a lawsuit! I might even try to locate some heavy-duty sealable bags to insert in each pocket, to fill with water. I’ll let you know if there’s a deluge. **Q: Are these bags graded for outdoor use?** A: I've used them outdoors before but never in a muddy place. There canvas is pretty good but the zippers aren't great.
