It could be used as decorative but not strong enough to hold two pieces of leather together. **Q: How much weight will it hold i want to make leather dog leashes would it work it would be braided so there would be at lest 4 strands of it** A: If you braided several strands of it together it should be pretty strong. Make sure your connectors are very firmly and permanently connected. From purchasing assorted Fastex buckles I had a need for a small, in-between, cord size that would work with these 3/8" odd-sized buckles and I found this cord inexpensive and reportedly durable. I am very pleased with not only the consistancy of the cord but the nice glossy deep-black finish and the workability of the cord in knotting. This is a very good quality product being used for just a little more than it's intended purpose (it's not necessarily made for knotting) and performing very well. As a simple jewelery necklace or bracelet cord I think the quality and durability would really do well, and certainly as I've been using it it is just great.
