Departure from the Script (The Hollywood Series) Paperback – July 2, 2016

I really liked the characters. Down to earth but willing to expand their view of the world. It was refreshing. And the adorable, meddlesome grandmother was great! I didn't want it to end.

I decided to treat myself to “Departure from the Script” as a holiday weekend treat, to escape the stress of work. That was definitely one of my more brilliant ideas.I read the short story “The Morning After” by Jae about a year ago, and enjoyed it very much. Yet I was hoping for a follow-on story, because I connected with the characters and wanted to see what the future holds for them. Apparently, I was not the only one who felt this way, because Jae took the short story and expanded it into a 52,000 word novella that tells the heartfelt story of two women learning to see beyond the usual stereotypes and assumptions, and falling in love.As with all of Jae’s books, she’s done a great job with combining character development, very engaging story-telling, humor, love, romance… all in one story. I especially like how she’s able to address stereotypes in a way that not only fits well in the story line, but also strengthens and enhances the story line significantly. The attraction between the actress Amanda and the butch photographer Michelle doesn't just work, but it works brilliantly. Mix in the humor of a bad blind date, waking up in a stranger’s bed with no clue how she got there and who’s the person in the shower, a meddling grandmother, the ongoing joke about the “rehearsal” for the date, and you’ll find yourself easily drawn into the world of Amanda and Michelle in no time.This is a definite must-read if you're looking for awesome lesbian romance story telling.

Jae wrote a great story with a lot of chemistry and a wonderful connection between the characters. I look forward to this series and the books that Jae writes.

Wonderful journey of two women involved in their careers and not looking for love. They find it, however, with Amanda drunk on Valentines Day and Michelle rescuing her. Amanda is encouraged by her famous grandmother to come out and live her truth. Michelle has been out since birth but understands Amanda’s hesitation. Michelle is an unbelievably generous and kind women who doesn’t fall in love easily but fell hard for Amanda. I loved their banter and how comfortable they were with each other. Lovely story. A very good read. I enthusiastically recommend this and all of Jae’s works. Thank you Peace

Amanda was an aspiring actress and Michelle was a photographer. Their life changing first meeting was a drunken Valentine's mistake. The year long rehearsal for a sober date next year was all about love. This is a sweet story of unexpected love after a very wrong night. The lovely connection and electric way they sparked durning the get to know you phase. I loved these two strong, confident and loving women. The romance was so perfect and the physical build up brought a brilliant love story. A grandma who was an actress but that loved so genuinely was icing on the cake. I would love to see more of their story!

Jae is a master writer! I am able to fall into her story line right from page one. Her style is clear, her characters come to life in my imagination. I am already looking forward to my next read!

A good book about a budding relationship between two women looking for real love. It was a very enjoyable & easy to read as the story developed & unfolded with a good cast of characters.

Jae has written another wonderful book. Femme actress Amanda gets drunk at an anti-Valentine's Day party, and wakes up in the bed of butch photographer Michelle, who took her home to keep her safe. Both ladies must overcome their biases; Amanda never considered dating a butch, and Michelle abhors actresses, as two of her exes were Hollywood divas. Fortunately, love does conquer all.So, why only four stars? I WANTED MORE!!! This book has great sequel potential, and I hope Jae considers that in the future. Maybe have Amanda and her actress grandmother star in a movie together. Maybe explore more with the ladies' exes, or more with Michelle and her nieces and nephews.This was a great book written by a great author. You won't go wrong in buying it.

A good story with no major plot twists or drama but A good slow burn romance with a good ending.

What a beautiful book. I had a day off work and spent it in the sunshine reading this book from cover to cover, did I waste a day? No, I don't think so. I honestly cant think of a better way of spending some down time other than with a beautiful story written by one of my favourite writers. I loved every minute.

I really loved that book.I read it in one night and, at the end, I was really sad because I would like more about the story of this two girls.I had no problems to read it, because it was really fluid, also if english is not my first language.Thank you so much for this beautiful story!

Just discovered this author. Having always read radclyffe, vali etc, I absolutely love these books. Could not put them down and read them all in a space of a few days.

Fantastic romantic book , so well written such a feel good love story, you feel like singing when they finally get time to spend together xx highly recommend this book
