As part of the Willie Handcart Company, Levi Savage feared that leaving late in the season would lead to despair and death. What he learned was that for every tragedy, there was a multitude of miracles. Brought to you by filmmaker T.C. Christensen, 17 Miracles will open your eyes to the unbelievable but true stories of the Mormon pioneers as you have never seen them before. Review: Fast shipping - I needed the movie for a youth activity and received the movie within 24 hours. The movie was packaged well and arrived with no problems. Great service and movie! Review: Amazing Motivation and Faith - One of my favorites. I think the acting and production was well done; love the historical vignettes that were gleaned from the journals of the pioneers who made the trek west in the Willie and Martin hand cart companies. It depicts 17 miracles along the way but I always see 23. A great family movie. I like how it starts out with the discovery of the Donner Party in California and how it contrasts how the latter-day saints reacted under similar starvation situations - totally different..

Great Movie
This is a great movie detailing the faith and struggles of the early Mormon pioneers. Whether or not you believe in their religion, the story explains the depth of their faith and committment to escape the persecution and horrid treatment they received for nothing more than their beliefs. It shows how they were ready to suffer and die to gain a place of freedom. I cry every time I watch it. It is a moving testiment to the faith and determination of a dedicated people.

Mormons and non-Mormons alike -- we enjoyed this movie
We first watched this movie with our kids and my wife's 88 year old grandfather (who is not LDS). When the movie finished, this proper English gentleman, World War II veteran and beloved great grandfather wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "My goodness that was a powerful film, wasn't it? I say, a film like that leaves me in need a good stiff whiskey!" I'm not sure that's the response the movie makers wanted to invoke in their viewers with this film, but it really is a powerful story well-told. It's easy to forget how really blessed we are; this film gives us enough perspective to remind us that perhaps lost iPod ear phones and non-existant airplane meals aren't the biggest trials travelers have faced after all.

Historical depiction
I liked the overall intent of the movie and portraying what happened in history to the mormons as they went west. I thought the beginning of the movie was a little confusing as to what was going on. It is touching and heart rending and portrays how the human spirit can be triumphant in perservering, enduring, and true to faith.

Tearjerking
You will cry. You will laugh. You will feel the spirit. You will love this movie. A bit morbid for some kids though, but no worse than most modern shows made for kids.

Wonderful movie. It depicted the Morman Trail
This very closely depicted what my own Great grand patents had to endure. Trying to get to a better life. The Morman Trail. Pulling Willie Carts with all their worldly belongings and families. Clear across the country with little food, water , weapons. Most of them made it. My great grand father died along that trail. They did keep written journals.

17 Miracles
Proabably one of the best movies that I've watched. The stories were touching. I found myself cheering and crying all at the same time. The lead, Jason Wade, did an excellent job. I would recommend this to anyone that loves a good story of love, dedication, and sacrifice. I was so impressed that I bought one for each of my children. They have all mentioned how thought provoking and good the movie is.

Dur, très dur si l'on n'a pas la Foi. L'histoire vraie d'un convoi de Mormons en route vers l'Utah. Époustouflant de vérité

This movie was acceptable, although the creators ought to have considered better whether they wanted to make a documentary or a drama. This, instead, is a documentary posing as a drama, and it's a little boring. The problem is that there is no developed storyline to get drawn into. Instead we are introduced to several storylines of what are obviously real-life characters that offer more of an overview of each of their situations rather than any sort of in-depth character development. The main character himself, emboldened on the cover to make us think this story must be about him, is only seen as his actions relate to the actual events. The movie is interesting insofar as it aquaints us with incredible stories as they happened to real people. But like I said, if that's all the creators wanted to depict, they ought to have made a documentary. Being presented as a drama I expected something a little more captivating story-wise, but there wasn't really a story there. Academically interesting, but dramatically disappointing.
