3 years and counting; best mic ever!
It's been through everything you could imagine...four moves, sat on, bent, you name it. Magnet was easy to apply and stayed put. Noise cancellation is great on it, which was very much needed considering my obnoxious mechanical keyboard and two dogs. Sound quality has not faltered once, and I love the physical mute button especially while gaming and streaming movies with friends. Love this thing!

Surprised
I was expecting this to be an overpriced microphone when I first bought it. I was amazed that it made my voice sound better than my Blue Yeti. I mainly use this in Omni mode even though I'm only just speaking directly at it. The reason why this is better than the Blue Yeti is that it has some sort of noise canceling going on. When I type really loudly on my keyboard, the Mod Mic doesn't pick up the keyboard sounds, while the Blue Yeti does. This is perfect for apps and games when you want to activate your mic with voice activity instead of Push to Talk. It's almost like magic really. I also like how you can orient your mic with the magnetic claps into different positions or take it off entirely. I'm pretty pleased with this.

Natural Sounding! *Edit - Failed after 7 months and the warranty process scrutinizes you
Edit after 7 months* Wire cracked @ the upper strain relief after 7 months of normal use. The warranty process is a bit much, they want you to answer a series of questions and take a recording of the output and send it for their review. Once "approved" they require you to send the mic to their "Autopsy" address at your own costs in which they will determine if they will warranty the item via repair or replace. I didn't do anything wrong, but they really seem to go out of your way to make you feel like you did. "Autopsy" - where we will inspect your mic VERY closely to make sure you're not abusing your product. Quite frankly, I've become very tired of the mod itself, it's always in the way and there's no good way to flip it out of the way like a gaming headset mic. My lesson has been learned "ModMic" is not the way to go. Get yourself a desk mic if you're trying to use a studio quality headset over a gaming headset if you want something that will last. Dear Antlion, I get that you don't want unnecessary warranty costs, and that there are people out there that damage products but you need to consider how you potentially make a good customer feel over trying to weed out the bad. Initial Review* Voice sounds identical to as if you were the room. Very natural! The light up mute button is too close to the mic. It needs to be further down the cord so you can actually find it, use it and literally see it. Kind of pointless having a light up indicator if it's not in your range of view. Great mic, but really silly overlook. I don't understand how this positioning could be approved during testing....oh well. It's a great item either way. Also make sure you test the position of the stick on magnet as you only get 90 degree rotation for flipping up and down the mic. If you mount it 45 degrees off you're out of luck and flipping the mic will be an annoyance and pop out. This is preventable with proper installation.

Sound great, but has design flaws
I have bought 2 of these mics over the past couple years. They sound fine, as good or better than just about every headphone mic you come across...no problems there. Plug in and works. However. Both mics stopped working withing the 1st year. The wiring going into the mic boom near where it attaches to the headset failed on both of these, where it transfers from a soft cord into a hard flexible piece. The wiring broke...I did some surgery and removed the soft sheath and was able to locate the break in the small wires and resolder..And it works fine one again. Not super optimal, but id rather not spend another 80 bucks just to have the same thing happen again.

Great-sounding mic
Purchased this (ModMic USB) about 6 months ago to add onto a pair of HD6XX's and it works great. I've been using it daily for work/gaming and it sounds much better than any integrated mic I've used before from gaming headsets. The magnet attachments stick well, I haven't had trouble with them and pulling on them has no give. I often switch the mic to an upright position when I'm not using it, and that works fine as well. $80 is at the higher ends for what I was willing to pay for a USB mic, but it's worth is given the build and sound quality. Would recommend.

After 7 months of regular use the microphone broke completely. It seems you only get 1 month warranty. Absolute waste of money, would recommend investing your money in something more durable.

Have been using gaming headset for years for both PC gaming and general skype/zoom/ calls. Decided to jump into the relm of more audiophile level headphones for gaming however it is near impossible to find a good gaming headset that has both amazing sound quality with a decent microphone (although I must admit the Seinheiser PC37x came close). After purchsing a good pair of open back magnetic planar headphones my next step was to purchase a microphone. Wanted something with good audio quality but wasn't interested in getting a desk or broadcasting style microphone. The mod mic provides amazing audio quality, is reasonably good at eliminating background noise and was very easy to set up.
