My kit came with a strip of male-male connectors also, but I did not use them. **Q: what batteries are needed?** A: You need to use 3.7V 18650 batteries. **Q: Is the r3 board is a arduino uno board? the board in the picture does not have any description on it.** A: Yes,It is with arduino uno board. **Q: How many batteries are needed? And what is the final voltage coming out of the battery box?** A: I think this came with a 2-cell battery pack which fit the 3.7V 18500 Li-ion cells (7.4V total). At first I switched it out for a 6 cell AA holder, but later got some 18500 cells and charger and really liked using them. This is a nice project kit.
