Can these plastic spikes be cut easily for shorter length?

Yes, they can be cut to shorten the length and it's a great product

Birds sit on back of my porch swings and poop. Will this keep them off?

Hello, these spikes will keep birds from landing and nesting only on the area they are directly covering. Please see the product Irri-Tape by Bird-X for a visual and sound deterrent which may better suit your needs.

Can the strips be shortened for small ledges?

No, you cannot shorten the strips. I found that the bird scary tapes work better than the bird spikes and are much cheaper (less than $10). You might want to use both scary tapes and bird strips to keep birds away.

Will this keep squirrels off a ledge?

I don't think so. Squirrels are pretty tough, and the spikes are not sharp and made to deter birds. Good luck.
