If you don't own it, then don't review it
Wow.. I read the other review and was taken aback. "I didn't buy it but my friend did"...Well, I DID buy this, and I bought it back on March 15, 2012. We've had this wind generator on our sailboat for the past 3+ years, and have not had a single problem with it. It generates power as expected, and was one of our top three additions that we were adding to get ready for a Pacific journey. Between the autopilot, the solar panels, and this wind generator, we could not decide which was the most beneficial. Please, if you have not bought one of these, don't try to review it because "my friend" or some other mystery person said something. That is like relying on third-person reviews for a boat you want. Ask someone that has owned one - that would be me. This is a good generator, and it has been generating power on our sailboat for over three years now. I know because I neglected to connect the brake, so even when our sailboat is at the marina, or left for a few months, it continues to turn. No bearing failures, no electrical failures. It just works.

A little disappointed
It took a while to break in and now that it has there are a couple issues: First, the turbine goes into protective mode at 280 watts generated which is nowhere near the 400 watts generated. Second, the turbine makes a clicking noise at slow to moderate speed; the humming it makes when generating power is fine but this is slightly annoying. Overall it's okay.

Why install a higher Amperage Alternator! Charge up the RV's Batteries with Wind as you drive, and also when Boondocking!
This is great!I installed it on the back of my 1974 Winnebago Indian motor home!Cool!

Working great so far.
I purchased the N Power Wind Turbine and an N Power Solar Panel, as a "green" power solution for my Houseboat. I have the Turbine at about 8' above the top deck, and used 1 1/2 inch Rigid Aluminum for the pole. I have a brace from the top railings leaving about 4' of unsupported pole up to the Turbine.I used the recommended 12 gauge wire, and I used rubber to Isolate the braces against possible vibration transfer from the pole to the boat. The Turbine is working great so far. I've had it operating for about 3 weeks, it creates about 13 watts in the lower wind startup, and I saw 90 watts in what was reported as 15mph wind. The vibration is almost non existent, the only noise it makes, is the blades spinning in the wind, and a very slight hum, it is actually peaceful to hear. The controller seems to be doing its part, applying the brakes when no electricity is needed, and releasing when it is. I have 3 12v storage batteries connected, and a 2000 watt inverter. This Turbine seems like a pretty good piece of equipment for the price. I will follow-up after the summer, with a full season opinion. So this update is 11 April 2019, this generator is still working, I remove the blades during winter storage Oct-Mar the color has grayed, but it is still providing charging to my batteries, I have no regrets buying this, and can honestly recommend, that at least the unit I have, has been a good value.

Works perfectly
Installed on a Passport40 this past summer and it’s worked like a champ since. Far quieter than any other wind gen. Considering put another one on the other side of the boat. Perfect addition to our 400w of solar. Wiring was easy. Ran output to same terminal block for solar outbound power to the batteries.
