Could this fit a 12 year old boy of average size

Yes a 12 year old could wear it. It's very great for day trips or hiking or man can carry 2 guns in the back pocket. The comment I saw about someone cutting up a little boy..is ignorant and dumb. The buyer was not thinking that way obviously.

Will a 7 1/4 x 9 3/4 x 1 1/8" tablet fit in this pack?

Yes. The dimension of this Shoulder Backpack is 11" x 7.8" x 3.9". Hope this answers your question. Thanks.

How Wide is the strap?

The strap itself is about 2-2.5” in width. I haven’t had any issues with it digging into my shoulder, it usually stays comfortably, and I usually use it as a quick to go bag for my toddler.

Whats the size of the main pocket? I'm trying to fit a emergency kit

I’m not 100% sure but I do believe it’s a good size pocket I bought it for a gift for somebody
