Dakota Alert DCRH-4K Plus 1-Mile Wireless Driveway Alarm System, 25-Ft Hose | Sensor, Wireless One Mile DCRH-4k, Rubber Hose Driveway Alarm System, Relay Outputs, RE-4k, Receiver & DCHT-4000 Transmitter

We live in a semi rural area and have a 300-ft long driveway, and we need to be alerted when vehicles come up the driveway. A PIR sensor was not considered, because the wildlife would trigger false alarms. We purchased a magnetic loop detector system, but it did not work reliably and so was returned. Then we wondered, do those air hose systems that used to be in service stations still exist and are they available for homeowners? Why yes, they're still around! We bought the Dakota Alert System, a combination of a tried and true air pressure sensor and a UHF transmitter and receiver. Set up and test of the system was easy, before we committed to installing it (I had to dig a trench to route the excess hose to locate the transmitter to a more favorable line-of-sight position with respect to the receiver in the house, and figure out a way to anchor the hose across the driveway). The system has been up and running for a couple of days now, and it works. Coincidently, the first vehicle, other than my own, to trip it was an Amazon delivery truck. The manufacturer claims a 1 mile range for the transmitter, although our set up is much, much less. The receiver has 16 programmable tones, and can pair with more than one transmitter, allowing you to give each a unique tone. The receiver also has two discrete outputs (Normally Open and Normally Closed) and a 12VDC output. This can be used to connect to a security camera, for instance. I have not used these features. I'm very satisfied -- 5 stars.

That is the trick...no more unreliable electronic stuff that needs to be buried in the ground and when it rains sends false alarms!! This airhose driven alarm is SIMPLE, AFFORDABLE and works like a CHARM!!! I am VERY pleased so far!!!

This was extremely easy to set up! Including the time it took me to walk 1/10 of a mile down my driveway it took less than 15 minutes. I have had 2 solar driveway alarms (without a rubber strip to run over) and both of them crapped out on me and quit working. The solar alarms were unreliable. This driveway alarm works every the time, without fail! WAY better than the other driveway alarms I have had. There are no false alarms, and it ALWAYS works. I wish I had found this alarm first, I could have saved myself a lot of money and aggravation!! And, I really like it's a small business in the U.S.!! The only thing I would change is that the alarm could be a smidge louder.

Has been a lifesaver for our business. If we happen to be out of the shop and in the house which does not have clear sight lines to the driveway we can miss a customer. Loud alarms in both the house and the shop keeps happy customers. We have replaced this a couple times, but they get a lot of use and the cold Minnesota winters are hard on the rubber hose. Enough hose to use half of it for the width of our driveway.

Purchased to replace a $70 hardware store model Chamberlin driveway sensor that was getting some false alerts. Unfortunately the range is no where near as described. Placed at an entry gate 80 yards away with no obstructions, and the receiver placed in a glass window facing the transmitter, the two were unable to communicate. Repeatedly pressing the transmit button while walking toward the receiver, a tone was finally emitted at 50 yards, that's less than 5% of the advertised range. Adding insult to injury, the volume levels are nowhere near the levels of the unit this was intended to replace. I couldn't see it being loud enough unless you were within 20 feet or within the same room. Returned less than 24 hours after delivery. Not what I'd have hoped for a a $185 product.

This doesn't come with the receiver, I should of read into a little more. Bought the receiver and product works as it should.

This is a wonderful device especially when you live on a yard and don’t always hear cars coming into it. It’s easy to assemble but it has an American plug so it needs a transformer an adapter plug won’t work. It is easily rectified and is a really good item which we are very happy with. We have been looking for one of these for years and thankfully we now have it. The seller is extremely helpful and responds quickly to all queries. I highly recommend it. 👍
