Michael Neiberg has provided us with an atlas of several hundred plates covering all areas and aspects of the conflict. The “Background” section for example includes the Franco-Prussian War, the Balkan Wars and the Russo-Japanese War among many others. All the major campaigns of the Eastern and Western Fronts are included of course. There are several plates devoted to the Arab Revolt and the stipulations of the Sykes-Picot Plan, U-boat losses in the Atlantic, the British Blockade, African campaigns, and even a map showing the events of the Mexican Revolution of 1910-1917 (which I’m personally satisfied to see he considers relevant).Cartography is decent and usually detailed enough to offer a good level of understanding and the narratives are concise.
