Network+ Guide to Networks

Very informative.
Like many authors of these books, Tamara finds the important information and reviews it nicely. I am not a fan of her questions at the end of each chapter, but it's worth mentioning, if you don't read the chapter, you won't understand her reasoning behind asking questions about obscure information, hidden in a paragraph somewhere in the text. The review questions are easy, compared to some of your instructors' methods for gleaning further information in an exam. One of my instructors goes so far as to ask questions from chapters that we haven't even covered yet. It goes without saying, an IT degree is not for beginners, but for men and women that have experience in this field already.

Great job Vendor with shipping.
5 stars for shipping. Shipping wasn't that bad actually. I needed is book (as most people do for college) and asked if they could ship it faster due to the semester starting within a week and I was expecting it around 2-3 weeks later. Surprisingly I got it about 5-6 days after I ordered it. Great book so far just reading the material. Very useful and the online code also helps out with practice for CompTIA Networking+ cert. giving you a practice exam and helpful tools

Lacks in depth explanations
This book was required for a Computer Networking class I'm taking. The class is a hybrid which mean part of it is reading this book and part of it is watching videos online that the professor has selected for us each week. I don't think the the book goes into enough detail so, I feel I don't have enough understanding of the subject in the chapter each week without the videos and Googling some terms as well. The chapter for this week covers Topology. For example this book covers 3 types: Bus, Ring and Star. From the videos I learned about Mesh topology. Our online discussion topic was to explain the difference between physical and logical topology. I felt like I didn't have a very good understanding of how to answer that question from what I had read in the book. I Googled it and I came across another video that explained it clearly and also gave real world examples. This video mentioned how many people think rings are obsolete but, they are used sometimes for fiber optic cables and there is another topology called dual-ring. It would be great if this book added more real word examples of how some of this stuff is actually used. The author also seems to go into more detail than necessary on things that are obsolete like token rings and hubs.

Network+ Guide to Networks By Tamara Dean purchased from facetextbooks review
This book arrived quickly and without incident and in the exact quality that was promised if not better. "Facetextbooks" said that the book had water damage and was a little roughed up but came it the online access card (which it did). There was barely any water damage to the book (see photos) and it was a little scuffed up but nothing very bad. This book could easily be in a library and not stand out at all. So "facetextbooks" is an awesome used book seller in my opinion and I will be using them in the future if I need any more textbooks. "Facetextbooks" easily gets 5 out of 5 stars I gave a 4 start review because on the books content.-- The way this book is written is very strange and I don't like it. The author seems to over-elaborate on very simple things and then gloss over more complicated concepts requiring the reader to either accept a basic understanding or do their own research online about a topic. But I’m sure the book contains all the necessary information to pass the Network+ exam. But just passing the exam isn't good enough in my book I want to fully understand all concepts covered in this book without having to do extensive research on my end.--If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will try and respond as soon as I can, but I have a job and things to do so please don't expect a response immediately.

Great for Intro to Networking
I am using this book for a Network Foundations class, not for the Network+ certification. I was already familiar with very basic networking, but appreciate the complete approach this book takes. It doesn't make assumptions about prior knowledge but moves along swiftly enough not to bore. If you want to learn about networking, this is a great first book.

Access Code is included
I checked with customer service via chat about the Access Code since it doesn't mention anything about it in the description. They confirmed it IS included. There was another question about this here (http://www.amazon.com/Does-come-CertBlaster-Access-Code/forum/Fx1LF5RESJKHXNS/Tx2W8GA2PMNSVCC/1/ref=cm_cd_et_up_redir?_encoding=UTF8&asin=1133608191&newContentID=Mx19GDSZC74W1WV#Mx19GDSZC74W1WV) so I put an answer there too.(5 Stars are because it's what I need for class. I haven't received the book yet.)

Bought for a class
I again bought this book for my husband who is taking his last semester in business. We received the correct book as described within two days. Can't beat that! Very happy with this purchase and will be buying my books from Amazon when I go back to finish up my degree!

Surprise, surprise. it's a textbook!
This textbook arrived as expected and appeared brand new. The packaging itself was also acceptable although i wonder if it is sufficient in some extraneous shipping circumstances. Nothing to complain about here. It's a good textbook for the CompTIA network+ exam.
