The secret-- eat regular food you like and just be aware of the portions and the content of fat and carbohydrate and sugar especially.I'm using books like this I suggest you have a kitchen scale --I in fact don't know how you can use it without one. I'm always surprised at how small a bundle one ounce of capellini pasta is. I grab a serving and I weigh it it turns out it's always three ounces and that's three times as much as I should have during one meal.Some recipes also will be more time consuming than some simple things you can make. However if you're making food for a family most people will eat everything in here so you do not have to cook separate meals.
