This had a slight smell but it went away after a short time. It smells a bit like burnt rubber (which makes sense with a rubber backing). The rubber backing really holds the rug in place. Its probably one of the best non slip rug products I have purchased. I bought the 1/4inch thick one and I can tell a difference with its under the rug. To me this is perfect. It creates a soft rug on harder floors. If you want something really soft and squishy, then you will want something thicker. Its all based on your preference for what you want. The size is also slightly under an 8x10 rug so it doesnt stick out from under the rug which was nice. Though I may still trim it more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Non-Slip Pad — Makes a HUGE Difference! I bought the Mohawk Home 8’ x 10’ Non-Slip Grip Rug Pad to go under MY 8’ x 10’ rug in my living room, and it has been fantastic. The rug used to slide slightly every time someone walked across it, but this pad completely solved the problem — it hasn’t moved an inch since I put it down, which I love! This rug pad has a felt and rubber side. The felt side adds just the right amount of cushioning without making the rug feel too thick, and the rubber grip on the bottom keeps everything firmly in place. I also love that it’s low-profile, so my rug still sits nicely against the floor and doesn’t create any tripping edges for my kids and dogs. Another huge plus: it was super easy to trim for an exact fit. Regular scissors worked perfectly. There are no strange odors, no damage to my LVP floors, and it feels great. If you need a reliable rug pad for a high-traffic area, this one is absolutely worth it! Great quality and great value!!

Easy to trim the 8x10 size for my area rug. Because of the way it comes folded, there are a lot of bumps and wrinkles that I assume will flatten in time. My only real gripe is the odor. It’s very strong and horrible. Can’t wait to see how long it takes to go away. 🙄

I have just revised my original 1-star review (below) all the way up to a 5-star review! Although Amazon’s 30-day return window had closed, I decided to call Mohawk directly to report the awful smell. The very helpful claims rep I spoke with apologized and said the smell was a known issue which has since been fixed. She asked me to send her a copy of my Amazon order info, and she is sending me a free replacement shipment of three new pads with no smell. I take back what I said about Mohawk. They admitted the problem existed, fixed it, and are sending me a free replacement order. I have a new found respect for Mohawk and their very professional and helpful employees. And these pads are awesome. (Old review below:) I bought these three additional rug pads after first trying one under an area rug on my wood floor, and being satisfied with it’s ability to keep the rug pretty much in place in a high traffic area—even with two dogs running over it regularly. But when these pads arrived, they had a peculiar odor that I had not noticed with the first one. Assuming the odor would gradually subside after the pads were laid out and in use for a while, I put them down under the remaining area rugs. It has been 2 months now, and the pads still smell, and the odor is sickening. The Amazon window for returning them has closed, and I am out the money I have wasted on them. I had trusted that with a brand name like Mohawk, I was purchasing a quality product. But a one-month guarantee on something like this is not long enough to realize that you’ve been sold a defective product. This is the last Mohawk product of any kind for me.

Smells like my dog threw up on it and it sat for months on end… this thing smells so bad! Don’t buy this garbage!!!!! I’m donating my new rug because of the smell, it’s stuck on my new rug I can no longer return!

Love this rug pad - this is the seventh Mohawk Home rug pad I’ve bought for our home. We have mostly wood floors so we have lots of rugs. The rug was slightly smaller than the rug pad but it was easy to trim with household scissors. It’s perfect for a thinner rug - holds it in place and the rug looks amazing.

1/8 inch is very thin. It helps to keep the rug in place but offers no cushion at all.

Like the pad, but ordered 8' x 11'. The first was WAY too small. The replacement was still too small. It should have been 243cm x 335cm, but it is 184cm x 273cm. Come on guys...

This is the fourth MOHAWK carpet pad we have ordered in our home. They all have a non-slip rubber backer, and a composite pad, which performs well. These are a little on the pricey side, compared to the competing brands, however you get what you pay for. Excellent product!!

I bought this underlayer to hold a rug in place. While the rubber bottom grips to the floor, the rug on top does not stay in place as the top surface of the underlayer is "hairy" with nothing to grip to. I would have returned it but had already cut to size. Instead I had to spend more money on a carpet tape to hold the rug down

the carpet pad serves its function but has a severe chemical smell that has not dissipated in the two weeks since it arrived.
