Maybe buy this guide, but plan to use other resources to study
I purchased this book to help me study for the Praxis II 5022/0022 Early Childhood Content Knowledge Exam. It was an okay buy, but there are some real problems with the text. There are numerous typos and grammatical errors, strange font changes and spacing problems, and asterisks for footnotes that aren't formatted like footnotes. Some of the sample questions are similar/identical to the sample questions that are found on the ETS website. I specifically recall a question about why we start measuring at the beginning of a ruler and not at the 1 inch mark, and a question about about many rectangles we count in a specific shape. There may be others. Having now taken the Praxis II exam, I can tell you that the ETS-provided questions are better sample questions than this guide's questions. In terms of the content review, which probably makes up 2/3 of the book, it was relatively helpful, but also problematic. Content was presented in a way that seem clearly out of order and the ideas jumped around a lot. All the same, a lot of the content was clear and reflected what I had learned in my teacher prep program. The Arts and Literacy sections were personally very helpful. However, there were 2 sections that, I felt, could use some improvements.Mathematics: This section of the guide mostly tells you ideas and games to use to teach Math in an EC classroom, instead of going into some of the theories or skills taught at certain grades/levels. Half of the 30 or so pages talk about using peg boards, making games from egg cartons, and more. You are expected to perform some basic computation problems on the Praxis -- perhaps instruction on computation should replace the games suggestions.Social Studies: The majority of this section discussed how children grow into social beings through different stages of development, which was great to read and review. It contained very little about actually Social Studies content that would be taught in the classroom, content which could appear on the Praxis. The last 2 pages of the section talk about laws & government; this section either needs to be expanded or buyers should plan to do additional research/reading about Social Studies content areas. In conclusion: If you have recently completed a teacher prep program or have access to a well-written curriculum, then you probably don't need to buy this guide. Study some of your old resources (texts, guides, etc.). If, however, you haven't taught in a while or maybe have only taught the upper-grades, this guide could be a good resource, in addition to a good book about social studies and mathematics (the 2 areas which I found to be most lacking).

Very Good Study Guide
I found the testing tips and study guide sections extremely helpful. They covered all of the concepts, in depth, that Praxis indicated would be on the exam. Providing more application of the the principles and ideas would have been very beneficial. The practice test that was provided was a good means of evaluating whether the concepts from the first section were known or not. Once again, I believe, it would have been very beneficial to have application questions provided. This book saved me hours of searching for the same information. For that reason, I would recommend it highly for the study guide section.

Bought this for my daughter, an elementary school teacher who was transferred into kindergarten and needed the early childhood certification by the fall or she would be surplused. The next and only PRAXIS test that summer was only 3 weeks away. She used this study guide and studied very hard. She took the three and a half hour exam and received an equivalent of a 93% on the test.

(pg 47) I really liked the Language and Literacy section
As far as test-taking, I appreciate the specific tips, the $5.00 Challenge, and how to overcome test anxiety. (I don't typically have test anxiety but my daughter does and some of the tips helped her. I re-learned that every square is a rectangle, which I'd forgotten. (pg 47) I really liked the Language and Literacy section.

Praxis ii (5022
I recently purchased the Praxis ii Early Childhood: Content Knowledge(5022). It has much needed information to help cope with the understanding of the praxis exam. It breaks down each subject matter and gives details om what to expect. There are also practice exams at the end to test on information obtained. I would recommend this book to anyone whose preparing to talk Praxis exam.

A good source of overview of the subject/s and the coverage of the exams. It's been a long time that I have taken these subjects and these materials will help me refresh my memory of those content knowledge as well as the application I learned some years ago.
