Great Scottish Oatcakes
If you know Scottish oatcakes, these will not disappoint. A hint of sweetness with the hearty, wholesome goodness of Scottish oats. Great with hummus, pb&j, charcuterie, everything.

Simple, healthy, and delicious
Simple, healthy oat cakes. A little jam or honey tops it off, but love them plain as well.

These are so tasty, fresh, and a fantastic price.
These are typical Scottish oatcakes (also known as "Bannocks"). They come in thick and thin versions and both are excellent. They use quality ingredients, so the taste is excellent. They are crisp, so know they are fresh - no stale oatcakes for me! I love the price because these oatcakes are not little! Two of them with some cheese or nut butter, a piece of fruit, and a cup of tea make a meal for me. A couple of them with preserves or marmalade make a great teatime treat. One thing you need to know, these are not at all sweet like Digestives or graham crackers! If that is what you are looking for, look somewhere else. I love these and am on my third order. They are now a staple in my home. They deserve their five-star rating and I have no reservations about recommending them very highly!!

Different from Nairn's, Walker's, Effie's, and others
Stockan's thick oatcakes taste much better than anything produced by Nairn's, regardless of whether the latter are called "oatcakes" or "crackers" and regardless of whether they're produced for the U.K. or U.S. market. This may be because the Stockan's contain a little more sugar and salt and they because they also contain a little wheat, as do most commercially-produced oatcakes. They're not sweet, but they have a flavor that's faintly reminiscent of graham crackers and they're a bit more tender than Nairn's Rough or Walker's Highland. Walker's Fine oatcakes are somewhat similar to the Stockan's, though not as tasty or as sturdy, and I bought them for years because they were a lot cheaper. Walker's have now stopped selling them in the U.S. If price is no object, you can order oatcakes from the U.K. that aren't made with palm oil (unlike Nairn's, Stockan's, and most Walker's products), but I doubt that any of them are good enough to justify the added cost. The ones that are made with olive oil don't even taste like oatcakes, IMHO. Do any of the big-brand oatcakes taste like homemade? Probably not, unless your mother was in love with Crisco. Effie's oatcakes are made with butter, like many home versions, but they contain so much sugar that they're essentially cookies. By and large, oatcakes are no harder to make than sugar cookies or shortbread, so you can always try making your own. Google "Felicity Cloake" and "oatcakes" for an overview and recipes. The thick and thin oatcakes are both good, and other reviewers have offered many topping suggestions. I would only add that I create "cookies" by slapping together one thin oatcake spread with hazelnut butter and a second spread with jam. (To make your own hazelnut butter, just pulse the nuts in your food processor. I use unblanched, roasted nuts and add nothing else.) This would be a 5-star item were it not for the fact that it's so frequently out of stock. We can blame the current problem on clogged ports or an obscenely corrupt political appointee, but 24-pack lots are almost always available from the same seller. Can't Amazon break open a few and repackage them as 6-pack lots? If not, why can't the seller address this problem by listing these oatcakes only as 6-pack lots and offering discounts to those who buy the 6-packs in multiples of 4? Even if I had room for 24 packs of oatcakes, and even if I could consume them before they got stale, I would still hesitate to order 24 at a time. If the 24-pack lots are always available long after the 6-packs are out of stock, how fresh can they be when they arrive on your doorstep?

Heart healthy and delicious!!
During the many years I lived in Scotland, I enjoyed oatcakes every morning for breakfast with fruit. I was so happy to find that I could order Stockanโs Orkney Oatcakes here in the US. Aside from being heart healthy and full of soluble fiber, they are a fantastic alternative to plain bread. Try with peanut butter, smoked salmon, thinly sliced ham or turkey, cheese or hummus. Also great with soup and a salad. My favorite is a fat slice of gooey Brie and a piece of tart apple atop a thick oatcake! Heaven! The case of 24 packs of 8 oatcakes each were securely packaged and not a single oatcakes was broken. I would urge you to try them. Oats are very effective at lowering cholesterol and oatcakes are wonderful for people who donโt like hot cereal or who donโt have the time to cook oatmeal. Besides, they have a great crumbly, toasted nutty taste that is incredibly versatile. I love them.

Out of date
Products were one month past sell by date. Updateโฆ After contacting the seller I was told they were not out of date. I have the exact same package, bar code the same, with the date from ๐ฌ๐ง as they do Day Month year. Perhaps the manufacturer re prints labels for the USA market. Very confusing. Why canโt companies just write 3 letters for months. Thank goodness that there are companies that see a niche in the market for Scottish foods. Helps everyone out. The oatcakes are great, just out of date, or not. As a side note my Luxar cherries from Italy still print labels from country of origin. day month year Best before date. Good value for a snack with smoked Salmon and cream cheese! Yum.

Made from oats and wheat, but still an excellent product
Unlike most oatcakes, which use only oats in the manufacture, these Stockans cakes use both oats and wheat. I have eaten them for many years and have always enjoyed them. They are a healthy and nutritious product. I am pleased they are now available on Amazon as not many supermarkets stock them.
