I'm disappointed
This is very large & seems well made compared to the other apple slicers/corers I've owned. The straight blades are sturdy and sharp. What ISN'T sharp enough is the circle in the center for coring. It takes so much muscle to push it down over an apple that I have to ask my husband to do it for me. :( Perhaps I need to contact the seller and ask if this is typical for their slicers/corers or if I got one that wasn't made correctly.Update: The blades that slice are VERY sharp but the circular portion is SO dull that even my husband is having trouble. If I’m here alone I can’t use it. Tonight, it was so hard to get the center corer started that it slipped and cut a gash in a finger. Im contacting the seller about an exchange. This is the most I’ve ever paid for an apple corer but the worst performance I’ve ever had from one! I want an exchange (rather than a refund) because RSVP is a great brand & I have MANY of their kitchen tools!

Strong and tuff
The best apple slicer I have ever used or owned. I am going to purchase a 2nd one in case they change it. I’ve also thought to give as gifts .....you can’t go wrong with this slicer.

Good for big apples
I wanted an apple slicer that could handle the enormous apples now being offered at the store and this fit the bill perfectly.

Broke Twice
I bought this apple slicer to use with apples and every now and then a pear. The first one worked for about three weeks and then shed all it's blades. There's a cast inner ring that fits into the main outer ring where the handles attach, that cracks, drops outs, and releases the blades.I contacted the manufacturer who promptly shipped another one. This one lasted about 3 months before failing in an identical manner. The inner ring appears to be made of material often referred to a "pot metal" and the due to the all the notches cut into it fails at one of these stress points.Too bad, in that it is one of the few corers that feels good to the hand and appears to be heavy duty.

Useless
I bought this slicer hoping to find a solution for slicing larger apples, such as Fuji's or braeburn's. I picked this one despite the negative reviews. Big mistake. I don't know if it is because of the extra blades adding resistance, or that the blades are just not sharp enough, but it is nearly impossible to get the thing through an apple. After squaring my feet and getting directly over top with both arms and almost all of my strength, I got it most of the way through, with the effort leaving the bottom of the apple totally smashed. Might as well be a solid board you were trying to squash an apple with...seriously it takes that much effort. Useless. Oh, and my wife couldn't get it but a third of the way through. Save your money, or try a different one.

Easy apple eating
This is a sturdy product that cuts apples well. I have a pampered chef and this one actually works as well. This is for big apples which is why I have it. The cover is a nice touch for less worries while it is stored.
