The canvas is 10/20 Penelope. You can choose 100 stitches per inch (10 x 10) or 400 stitches per inch (20 x 20). Canvas is appropriate for either needlepoint or cross-stitch. The color key is along the canvas margins. You need to buy your own fiber using their color recommendations or your own imagination. I use multiple strands of DMC embroidery floss or Perle cotton #5. I like this canvas because it's just the right balance of different colors -- the colors are distinct enough that I can distinguish between them, and there are enough colors that the picture is detailed enough.
