We love hot pot at home and this soup base is delicious but if you have a low tolerance for โhotโ this is very hot and spicy which is why my family loves it.

I buy this for my daughter who loves it. She apparently doesn't have the receptors in her mouth that allow you to sense heat because she loves it an one drop burns for days for me.

Not a fan of taste, smell, or really any of it...
If you want something that does not taste like straight chili flakes with some weird preservative taste, try something else. Yeah it's spicy but its whole flavor profile is nothing but spice and otherwise its very plain. That's not counting the fact that every bite will be weirdly crunchy and somewhat inedible because of all of the "seasoning" floating in the "broth". Weird taste, weird smell, and nasty texture between the greasy feel and the crunchy stuff. Tastes nothing like the hot pot at a restaurant. Going back to our old hot pot base option...

Tasty hot pot!
Great flavor and spicy. Easy to add and turns out great

Just okay
It had the key flavors of hot pot that I am used to but it was excessively oily and low on flavor. I ended up using an oil separator on the brother after it heated up and that helped dramatically along with some soy for added saltiness. Overall it was good but I'll be trying other brands.

You can't go wrong with Haidilao sou bases
They truly are worth a try especially if you've gone to their restaurants before. The spicy is really spicy so beware.
