Excellent Machine to Feed an Addiction
I purchased the Philips 3200 Lattego with an additional filter as part of Amazon Prime Day, so my review is directly tied to that discounted price. I find that this machine is really worth the money. It makes excellent espresso and latte macchiatos. That is a given, but how does it handle milk alternatives. I feel like there isn't much comment on this, and I think it is worth discussing. Since realizing, after two decades of pain and suffering, that I am lactose intolerant, I switched from milk products to oat milk. I typically purchase Silk brand's original oat milk, but I also buy their creamy version, and other brands of oat milk. This machine does a good job of heating and frothing the oat milk, however, because it is quite a bit thicker than milk, it uses less oat milk in the automated process. This doesn't bother me too much, because I typically use the latte macchiato function twice in a row to fill my coffee mug. Yeah, it is a healthy amount of espresso in the drink, but that can be adjusted. It does work with oat milk, and I prefer it that way. I have not tried it with soy milk, almond milk (might be a good choice given how thin it is), cashew milk, or other milk alternatives. I recently also thought I would try lactose-free Horizon organic milk, and it works as a normal milk product would. It froths a lot more than the oat milk does, so be prepared for a lot of foam. It tastes a lot like an espresso drink you would have at any coffee shop, other than Starbucks. Even using Starbucks espresso beans, it comes out slightly less perfect than they can do, but over significant use, it surely pays for itself and it is still darn delicious. One tip to mention is that when using pre-ground beans, make sure to close the lid after you load in one scoop. Don't overfill it and don't load it too early. When wanting to use pre-ground coffee beans, make sure to power up the machine and let it do the cleaning cycle first, before loading in the grounds. My machine doesn't seem to do the pre-ground stuff as well as I'd like, and it has to do with the process. I am not sure why, but it will sometimes take two or three tries to get the machine to make it correctly, but once it does the first time, you can repeat the process in the same power cycle without issue. Load one scoop of grounds, close the lid, choose the drink, let the machine work. When it is done and you can select a new drink, repeat the process of loading the grounds, closing the lid, then choosing the drink. I'm not entirely sure I would buy this machine at full price, but if you see it on sale, it is a great deal. I think the regular price of this one versus a higher end one from Philips is only $100 or so in difference, and the higher end models, 4300, 5400, etc., offer more options. That can be important for some. On sale, with the milk carafe, it is a bargain and worth it for the first super-automatic espresso machine. I think the price to consider picking it up if money is an issue is the $650 or so price point. Amazon Prime Day's deal was less than. Highly recommended. Made in Romania UPDATE: I have been using this espresso maker for some time now, and I still think it is a great buy, especially on sale. Everything has held up great since purchase. I thought it might be good to leave some additional thoughts. First, the issue when using ground coffee seems to be less so. I have only experienced issues with it twice since my last review. Second, the one new negative thing I have found is that it can be a little noisy when in use. That doesn't stop me from recommending it, but if you need something super quiet, this might not be the one you want. And finally, don't forget to clean out the cavity where the used grounds fall out of. I never thought to clean it and one day my wife noticed some mold smell coming from that area and I had to stick my hand in and clean it out as best I could. I use it daily and I clean that part about once a month, and that seems to be good for me, but also note that I live in the dryest region in the United States, so we don't really have humidity to make the problem worse. That's all. I still highly recommend it, especially when on sale!

Gamechanger coffee maker
I purchased this Philips 3200 Espresso maker last October after using and loving a similar Philips Espresso maker at an apartment in Rome, Italy the month before. We loved the cappacino we made each morning during our stay in Rome. So I took notes on the brand (Philips) and found this similar unit on Amazon. I'm sure the espresso maker we used in Rome, which was available to use by all rooms on our floor, was a more industrial style, but the workings were identical. After reading all the reviews, I had a few concerns about mold and about noise. But having owned it and used it daily for almost 10 months, I'm writing this review to say I am super happy with it. * First off, after I set it up, there was a small plastic plate that the directions didn't identify. Also I had questions on how to change some settings. The Philips product support line was awesome. The lady had me do a Zoom type call whereby she could see what I was doing and she got everything straightened out. * Second, it makes a great cup of coffee, cappacino, or latte. This Philips replaced a Ninja single serve pod style coffee maker. We've using Keurig pod style machines for well over a decade. I thought they made good coffee, but the coffee from a fresh ground espresso maker is so much better. My wife makes a 2x (double) regular coffee, which is a single push button option. We leave it on the medium aroma (coffee strength) and medium water volume setting, which makes about 4 oz. of coffee at the strength we both like. Using the 2x coffee option, it does exactly that... it goes through the grind and brew cycle 2 times for 8 oz. of great coffee. My preference is 1x coffee, then a Latte Machiato on top. I usually use 2% milk for the machiato and it still makes a great froth, even though whole milk makes a better froth. * Third, yes it makes noise. The automatic coffee grinder sounds like a coffee grinder. If you choose, you can use ground coffee but to me the grinding sound is not a big deal. I haven't done the math, but I'm sure my coffee cost has gone down significantly since not purchasing K-pods and buying whole bean coffee at Costco or on Amazon. * Finally, the machine has had -0- problems since I got it and it goes through 8 brew cycles every morning. I am very metiulous about daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance. If your main priority is minimal clean-up and maintenance, stick with Keurig pods or a regular drip coffee brewer. This is a very sophisticated machine. I'd say I spend about 4 minutes every day (sometimes I do this in the evening) emptying out the coffee grinds bin, dumping the drip tray, then rinsing them both off, rinsing the LatteGo milk container / frother with dishwash spray, and refilling the water container. Once a week I spend about 10 minutes doing the above as well as removing the brew group assembly and rinsing it under warm tap water. I also wipe up the grinds and moisture that make their way under the brew group with paper towels. I think those that have mold issues are not doing this regularly. Monthly maintenance includes cleaning the brew group with coffee oil remover tablets, bi-monthly is lubricating the brew group with Philips food grade grease. Every few months a light indicates that the AquaClean water filter needs to be replaced. I purchased a non-Philips brand kit off Amazon that includes the filters, grease, and coffee oil tablets. All of these maintenance items I do because I love the coffee. I can't see myself going back to a Keurig single serve coffee maker.

Failed Within Eight Months—and Philips Won’t Replace It
Failed Within Eight Months—and Philips Won’t Replace It I purchased this machine around Christmas and initially enjoyed both the coffee and the convenience. Unfortunately, within approximately eight months, it developed a serious mechanical problem. The hot-water function still works normally, but during coffee brewing the water struggles to pass through the coffee. Only a small amount reaches the cup, while a large amount of brown brewing water is diverted into the drip tray. The machine also makes a loud, strained mechanical noise as the brew group returns to position. I thoroughly cleaned and lubricated the removable brew group according to Philips’ instructions, but the problem continued. This is clearly more than routine cleaning or descaling. What disappoints me most is Philips’ response. Despite the machine being less than a year old and still under warranty, Philips will not simply replace the defective unit and have me return it. Instead, I must package and send away an appliance I use daily and wait for it to be repaired. I was told that replacement would not be considered unless the machine had already been serviced three times. For a relatively expensive appliance that failed during its first year, that is unacceptable customer service. A warranty may technically exist, but requiring customers to endure repeated repairs before replacing a nearly new defective product does not inspire confidence. I will complete the warranty repair process, but based on both the early failure and Philips’ handling of it, I would not purchase another Philips product.

A morning essential and a perfect gift!
I've been using this espresso machine for a while now and love it so much that I actually bought a second one for my parents as a Christmas gift this year. Between managing my own business and keeping up with my girls, I need my coffee routine to be as smooth as possible, and this machine really delivers every morning! The Brew Quality It does take a little bit of trial and error at first to dial in the settings for the "perfect" brew. However, once you find your sweet spot and use high-quality beans, the coffee tastes amazing. It's honestly better than what I used to get at the local cafe. The ceramic grinder keeps the flavor really fresh, and the touch display makes it simple to choose between an espresso or a latte. Maintenance & Features One of my favorite parts is that the cleaning and maintaining is minimal. I don't have much extra time in my day for deep cleaning appliances, so the fact that it’s so straightforward to keep up with is a huge plus. I also use the hot water feature constantly; it's so convenient when I just want a quick cup of hot water to drink or for making a cup of tea in the afternoon. LatteGo System The milk frother is also a standout and I treat it as my weekend treat. It’s a very simple design with no hidden tubes, so you can just rinse it out or pop it in the dishwasher. It makes a really nice, frothy foam for my lattes without any extra hassle. I do wish I can double up on the foam though and wish they offered that feature. Overall This is a solid 5-star investment. It looks beautiful and modern on the counter, it’s reliable, and it makes delicious coffee once you get it set up to your liking. It was such a hit with my parents, too! Highly recommended for any busy household.

This is pretty good
Came from a Nespresso Vertuo machine to this. I like that I can make various coffee drinks. I mostly make regular coffee but have the option of a capuccino when I want it. Great Prime Day deal last October. Some things to note: 1. Is it loud? Yes it makes noise. It grinds coffee beans and all, but it doesn't run very long, so it becomes "normal" after a few times. 2. Does it use water? Yeah, some people mention it uses a lot and leaves a lot in the drip tray. If you are making anything that uses the Lattego milk function, it will use more water as it uses steam (that comes from water) to froth up the milk. The extra water is a by-product of the steam. When I make regular coffee there is very little water in the tray. Still wish the water capacity was bigger. I find myself drinking more coffee now cause I like the coffee I get from the machine. 3. Is it hot enough? Yeah....when it exits the machine it is around 196 degrees. I placed a thermometer in the coffee stream coming out of the machine (at the highest temp setting). The National Coffee Association recommends 195-205 degrees as the Optimal temp for extraction. Going straight into a cooler vessel (mug/glass whatever) it won't stay hot forever, plus it won't make like 12 oz cups like a K-Cup machine does, so it will cool faster. I like to add half and half to my coffee. With this machine I learned to heat my half and half in the microwave before it brews into the cup. Not really a pain just something different I am used to. Still wish it went to 205 degrees, just a little extra would be great. 4. I use the coffee function and use the top settings for water amount and get the right size for my mug. I run it twice for a travel mug. 5. It makes a pretty decent coffee, strong enough. I left it at the grind setting it came with. I remember when I tried the coffee at a Williams Sonoma store, I asked the demo person what setting they had it at, and the sample coffee was good. 6. Keep the drip tray and grounds catcher container empty. I let the grounds stack up and the machine wouldn't brew. My fault. Just empty and continue. I cancelled a brew mid stream when I realized the grinder was making a different sound (out of beans, my fault). It wouldn't do anything after I paused, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was fine. 7. Clean the unit as described in the manual or watch the Philips video on YouTube. Nothing crazy hard, just let it dry for the rest of the day. I find the sliding channels for the water container build up some coffee grounds, I just wipe it down with a damp paper towel. I did one descale recently, again, follow the directions and it's fine. Also ran one of the oil remover tablets as well. These machines cost money so take care of it. 8. Break in period, follow it. I admit it was a bit more than I would have liked. Bought some cheap beans to run through the break in. A bit of a negative. 9. Enjoy exploring the choice of whole bean coffee out there. I'm finally settling into a few that I can find easily and close by. 10. I like to add flavored syrups etc to the milk in the container before I brew. Really mixes the flavor in well. And easy hot water rinse for the milk container afterwards. Careful removing the clear container from the base, I broke mine the first time, as I didn't push the tab down to remove the clear container. 11. Machine looks nice in the kitchen. If you want the extra Wow go for one of the models with the LCD screen. Overall a good machine that requires a learning curve. It may be too much for some to want to learn or bother with the cleaning, break in period etc. But if you want a coffee adventure this machine will provide it. No complaints, no issues for me. Update: being away from home a while and I had my first coffee from this machine in a few weeks….I missed it. The coffee this morning was so much more flavorful. Lavazza Classico Beans are fantastic for the coffee function.

Don’t Believe the Negative Reviews!
A Hidden Gem – Don’t Believe the Negative Reviews! I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so after reading so many negative ones about this Philips Coffee Machine — and I’m so glad I didn’t listen to them! First of all, I’ve purchased many Philips products over the years. It’s a trusted, world-renowned brand — especially popular in Europe, where it’s considered one of the top 5. So when I saw the bad reviews, I was skeptical. I just couldn’t believe this company could produce something as poorly made as some people described. Well… spoiler alert: they didn’t. This machine is fantastic. Design – Elegant & Compact Let’s start with the design. It’s modern, sleek, and surprisingly compact. As you can see in my photos (if you’re looking at this with images), I have a standard-sized countertop, and there’s plenty of space in front of the machine. Whoever said it’s “too big” — I wonder if they’ve ever owned another coffee machine before. Compared to Jura, Keurig, or even DeLonghi machines I’ve owned, this one fits just right. Noise – Seriously? Not Loud at All Another common complaint I saw was that it’s “very loud.” I have a $3,000 Jura and a $300 Keurig — both are actually louder than this Philips machine. I was shocked at how quiet it was in comparison. People need to manage their expectations — this is a bean-to-cup machine, not a silent wish-granter. Temperature – Piping Hot! Then there’s the “coffee isn’t hot enough” complaint. I honestly think some people just like to complain. I took a sip right after the brew finished and actually burned my tongue. The temperature is spot-on. In fact, the coffee from my Keurig and Jura is noticeably cooler than what this machine delivers. Bottom Line – Don’t Believe Everything You Read Sometimes, people just lack the experience to compare products properly. If you’re considering this machine and reading the bad reviews — take them with a grain of salt. Pros: • Uses way less coffee beans than Jura (big money saver) • Water tank is generously sized – similar to Jura and Keurig • Tons of customization options – more than many high-end machines • Water filter lasts 3x longer than in other machines I’ve used • Unbeatable value – the quality at this $500 price point feels like a steal • Saved $200 by choosing this model over the newer Philips version, and I don’t regret it at all Cons (if you can call it that): When I first started the machine, it didn’t go through its rinse cycle. So I called Philips customer service. Within 5 minutes, a specialist was on the line, accessed my back camera, and guided me through the setup. Fixed the issue right away. That level of customer support? Incredible. If you’ve ever dealt with poor after-sales service (hello, other brands…), you’ll know how rare and valuable this kind of experience is. ⸻ Final Verdict: BUY IT! This machine has exceeded my expectations in every way. I saved money, got a top-tier product, and even enjoyed setting it up thanks to stellar customer service. Don’t be scared off by the negative reviews — some people just aren’t comparing apples to apples. If you’re a real coffee lover who appreciates value, quality, and design, this Philips Coffee Machine is a no-brainer. And a coffee Aroma…. Mmmmm….

VERY HAPPY customers! 5 YEARS of valued service!
Lasted a whole 5 years of heavy daily use! We LOVED our Philips 3200, and we even named him "Phil". I took pretty good care of him, did all the maintenance. But unfortunately the heating element tends to corrode after a long life span. It's starting to short out internally, and trips the GFCI outlet anytime it's plugged in. That said, we still love our unit and are sad to see it go. We decided to buy a Philips 5500. I may try to fix/replace the heating element so that we can salvage "Phil" and maybe he can have a new life in my wife's personal office at work. We just like the ease of setup, ease of maintenance, and have gotten our monthly routine down. I've researched other brands and have even considered the very expensive ones that cost $3,000-$5,000, but those just looked like a headache to maintain, and the value just wasn't there for us. We want to stay with the Philips brand of coffee makers. Also, we've never had a problem with the Noise level at all. So if the 5500 is even quieter, that's a plus!

Worth Every Penny
I was very skeptical of dropping $1000.00 on a "coffee maker". I've had this LatteGo for almost 2 months and I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this machine. I have not purchased a coffee outside of the home since I got it. So, at $3 to $4.50 for a coffee, espresso, or latte from one of the brand name coffee shops, I have to say I have saved a lot of money and the machine will pay for itself after a few months. In my opinion it makes the coffees at the same quality, look, heat and taste as the big coffee shops. One of the reasons I purchased this unit was the LatteGo container. It is so easy to clean instead of the tube style machines. I use soy milk and it froths it just like milk. My wife uses 1% milk and it does the same job. I used the factory settings for all drinks and they come out just right. Easy to fill the water and beans. The water tray is a good size and so is the "puck" container; we empty both twice a week and that is from making 3 to 4 coffees a day. The machine is a good size, but make sure you have counter depth front to back and cupboard clearance height to put the beans in the top. I should have bought a machine like this many years ago instead of messing around with the manual coffee presses (yuck getting coffee grinds in your mug from this method!) and small coffee grinders. This unit has it all in one. The grinder makes some noise but so far hasn't woken anyone up and is quieter than the whistling kettle for manual press coffee making. I found that when watching videos online of the unit in action the grinding noise was loud but it is just the bad mic quality of the video camera amplifying the noise. I am very pleased with the purchase.

WORTH IT
Love it! If you need help deciding between which model to get - frother or latte go. Here’s my opinion. I decided with latte go mainly because I had an espresso machine before which broke down, but I was obsessed with frothing the milk and doing latte art (for a good 1-2months) then I kind of got sick of it and sometimes wished I could drink a latte without doing so much work! And when I’m running late to work, there’s no time to manually froth milk. The 3200 latte go is worth the extra money for the convenience and added drink options. It literally makes my latte in 3min, machine start up is instant, and clean up is so easy. Btw, making green tea latte and other milk based drinks are possible. Select latte macchiato and stop the milk when it’s done dispensing. **Make sure to follow the first time set up instructions (very tedious, takes 15min but a must. Do it so that if there’s ever a mechanical failure with the machine in the long run, you did your part. There’s a step by step video on it from the manufacturer)** Some reviews had mentioned how it doesn’t vent well and is prone to mold build up..... (let me explain - the machine can take whole beans or pre-grinded beans). The pre-grinded bean area is the same area as the vent. 1. The whole beans section has an “aroma seal” so the steam won’t affect it. 2. if you want to use pre-grinded beans, it does say to only use 1 scoop per each coffee, so the machine can vent itself after each use. 3. If you are worried about mold build up, I would suggest to use whole coffee beans. The machine has a built in grinder. I don’t see any reason to purchase pre-grinded beans instead. Espresso machines can vary in price so I suggest do your own research. For me this did seem expensive at first but after comparing this to other super-automatic espresso machines, this one is considered to be priced entry level. I’ve been using the machine for over a month now with not a single issue, and I can say the price is well justified! After all it is an investment if you drink coffee everyday.

We love this puppy
We bought it used in good condition. Could have been cleaner...but it was fine we cleaned it up and away we went. Had to go on line to figure out our cause they're was no manuel...but it's easy enough to pick up! Love the temp settings...and some control. It doesn't get quite as hot as we'd like but then maybe we like it too hot. It Froths well And I love the Americano setting for the rich flavour. Creama is thin but present! Works well for us. We find we use more coffee beans than with our DE Longhi. We are happy!
