Close, Comfortable Shave
The Remington F5 Power Series Foil Shaver does not disappoint. I have been a loyal Remington user for decades and this razor is as good as my previous razors. Long lasting battery (about one hour of shave time per full charge), smooth, close shave with little effort, easy to hold and easy to clean. Pop-up trimmer works well for sideburns, beard/mustache trimming, unruly neck hairs, etc. Razor can be used with or without the cord attached. Has a quick 5 minute charge for one shave if needed. I expect this razor to last several years with regular replacement of blades and foil head (every six to twelve months). 5 STARS AND I DO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM I write honest reviews based on real life experience with each item to help others make informed purchases. I read reviews too, and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that you find this review helpful!

Good Product
This shaver works well and feels like good quality for the price. It gives a smooth, clean shave, is easy to use, and the cordless design is convenient. The battery holds up well for regular use, and it is simple to clean after shaving.

Good but noisy.
This is a great shaver. Easy to use, shaves close, doesn't irritate the skin, recharges fast, and cleans easily. The one negative is that it is very noisy in operation. Remington should switch to a much quieter drive system and that would make the shaver a real winner.

Nice shaver---with nice new features. But be sure to follow first charging instructions!
Bought this to replace my previous Remington micro-screen, that I had for years. The rechargeable batteries in my previous Remington were starting to fail to hold a charge. Being a DIY'r, I was going to buy replacement Nimh and replace them on the shaver. The replacements would have cost $15, plus the delicate work or unsoldering the old and re-soldering the new ones in. When I saw this F5 on Amazon for $49, it only made sense to buy it instead. The shaver itself works very well. I appreciate that it has the led charge level lights. Another feature is the "quick charge" capability---will charge in 5 minutes. As far as shaving---no complaints. One thing to know: if you are replacing an older Remington, don't use the old power supply. It is rated at 100ma, and the new one that comes with the shaver puts-out 200ma. Which is necessary for the quick charge function. There are also important charging instructions included, so be sure to follow! 1) Fully charge for 24 hours before first use 2) Let the batteries run-down fully about every six months, before doing a recharge. To keep battery capacity fully functional.

Works as described, Great product
Provides a really good close shave. I've never used an electric shaver before, so I was amazed how close a shave I got from this foil shaver, with no pulling. I was somewhat doubtful about foil shavers, but after using it twice, I believe I made a good choice in buy this item. The trimmer works really well, too. It does take a little time to find the right motion to get a good close shave but then again, I don't shave every day. For someone who does shave every day, this item does a good job.

It works well despite the questionable "improvements"
It definitely works. I'm not convinced, however, that the integrated trimmer thing between the foils is actually an improvement. My older Remginton had the slide-up trimmer that was flush with the foils, and it worked fine for catching longer hairs. If you have multi-day (3+ for me) stubble or longer hairs when using this one, they seem to snag painfully in the foils before the center trimmer can get to them. In that case, you have to use the pop-out trimmer first, which works fine, but it's at an awkward angle, since it's designed for sideburns. The old slide-up trimmer worked fine for sideburns and for longer stubble, and didn't interfere with using the foils, as you could use it independently or in conjunction with them. So in my opinion the whole thing was an unnecessary "improvement." And come on, let's all admit it, the rotating head thing is just a big farce, just as the little "shock absorbers" were on the foil screens of my older model. My wrist is perfectly able to absorb shocks and rotate the shaver around my face--I don't need extra high-tech-looking parts to pretend to do that for me. It's all this nonsense that companies are implementing to try to get you to buy new things. I mean my toothbrush has shock absorbers on it nowadays! It's all complete nonsense, and I wish companies would just make simple and rugged items that work and last, and stop adding cool-looking improvements that don't actually improve on anything. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update 1.2 years later. Didn't I say that the swivel head thing was a useless "improvement?" Well, it went from being useless but acceptable to a liability. There's a little screw inside that holds the swivel head in place, and the screw seems to have stripped its base, and it slowly comes out with the vibrations of the razor. It sticks out so that I cannot put the foil head back on after opening it for regular cleaning. I had to go back to Amazon and buy one of those miniature screwdrivers, just so that I could put the razor back together after cleaning. So now I have to keep a mini screwdriver in my bathroom bag for every time I want to clean out my razor. The foil heads and everything has held together well for the past year--all except for this little annoying screw! All this because its flex head designed for the 0.01% of the population that lacks wrists. I'm somewhat unhappy, but I'm still to cheap to go out and buy a new razor. I'm going to get my money out of this thing and drive it into the ground! But I'm also reducing my rating a point. I think an electric razor should last more than a year. I do like, however, the improved ruggedness of the whole foil screens compared to my older model. They used to pop off if I touched them wrong, now they stay in place. One worthwhile improvement, at least. I cant complain too much, though, as it works, and it's a decent price.

Amazing Electric Razor!
Amazing you should absolutely look further for a razor. It has a long lasting battery Iโve used it I canโt even tell you how many times without having to recharge, also it cuts very close and does not irritate the skin whatsoever. The pivoting head contours to your face so depending on what type of bone structure you have facially it will glide with ease! The only thing I wish is it came with a little pouch something to slip it in possibly with a draw string other than that itโs fantastic which is why this companyโs been around since the early 1900s!

Worst Shaver I Have Ever Owned. I Feared That It Would Get Me Fired, So I Discontinued Using It.
Let me first say that I have always liked Remington Shavers, I've previously owned four or five, and have been using them for over 25 years. I even purchased a very expensive Braun once, but eventually went back to buy a twenty-something-dollar Remington because it seemed to me to work just as well. No so anymore. Out of the box, this Remington F5-5800 worked "okay". That's right, just okay. It performed more poorly than other razors I have used, but it was acceptable to me; and because it was new and I obtained it for a good price, I initially turned a blind eye to its shortcomings. Fairly soon, however, I noticed that despite the graduated power charge lights on the front, it really only performed best when at maximum charge. So even if all five lights - or four out of five are green, the head is not gyrating as quickly, and your stubble will not be cut as fast or as well. After about 3-4 months, I realized that even fully charged, I was getting a poor shave. I was spending longer and longer shaving - like mowing the lawn with a dull blade, you keep going over the same areas again and again. After the fifth month or so, the few minutes I had always spent shaving had turned in to many more than that, and the result I was getting was poor at best: Lots of orphaned stubble, and dry, damaged facial skin from the constant "rubbing" with the shaver. It was around this time - prior to the sixth month mark - that I fully awoke from my somnambulance and denial: While shaving before work, it was taking me what seemed like forever to shave. I brought out the Mach 3 manual safety razor to do some dry blade "finish" work after using the Remington, but even it could not clear the "mess" Remy left behind. I spent much longer shaving than ever, and got a poorer result than ever. Well, I couldn't spend much longer solving this facial hair problem that morning - it was getting late and I had to get to work. I had spent twice the time I should have on my whiskers and I looked unshaven - or maybe worse - like I had been shaving while drunk. Add to that that I was now going to be arriving late to work as a result of spending an inordinate amount of time shaving - or trying to. As luck would have it, my supervisor came to talk with me that morning face to face - just 15 inches from my "dirty" face. He didn't say anything, but he could have. And arriving to work that way again - poorly groomed - could have led to an issue, or a poor performance review. So that was the last straw - I decided I would never use that cruddy Remington F5-5800 Foil Shaver again. Instead, I went back to using my OLD Remingtons: A (originally inexpensive) Titanium MS 280 that is 5 or more years old, and a much cheaper one from probably 15 years ago (it has F3790 on the back). My point is, that both these shavers - with screens and blades older than one year, and much older than my five month new F5-5800 - performed extraordinarily better. The difference was remarkable to me. So much so that I will try to find replacement parts for these, and not even bother trying to get a new razor. (The reason I justified getting the F5-5800 was because these other two razors needed - or so I thought - new screens and blades). So I guess the main problem with the Remington F5-5800 Foil Shaver is - outside of charging issues - a poorly made screen and blade. And a blade and screen system that deteriorates and/or dulls MUCH quicker than I've ever experienced - like after 4 or 5 months (and remember, I have been using Remington electric shavers for 25 years). I'll add just a bit more information too - my facial hair is not extremely coarse and I do not have a high concentration of follicles on my face. I am fair skinned with dishwater blond hair and northern European features. If I go without shaving for a couple days, I do not get a nice, even facial shadow like maybe an Italian guy might. If you have dark hair, coarse facial follicles, and get a "nice" (think Miami Vice) five o'clock shadow, then this shaver might go dull on you within a month. If it does, be sure to return it - I think you only have 30 days to do so. Or better yet, don't buy it at all - its a real dog (I love dogs; no offense to dogs ;) I can't return mine - so the only consolation I have with my loss is to try and warn others. Buy it if you must, but make sure you set an alert before the time is up for you to return it.

Great Battery, Amazing comfort
I was told this version of Remington buts the Brauns and Phillips to shame, and IT DOES. Great device for everyone who needs a clean look every day.

Close shave and worth it, a bit louder but great performance
My husband really likes this shaver. He says it gives a very close shave and feels much smoother than his older one. It is a bit louder, but he says the performance makes it worth it. The shave is clean, fast, and comfortable, and heโs been using it every day without any issues. Great upgrade overall.

This beats having to get the shaving cream and razor out all the time. Plus it's durable and easy to use. Great battery tracker too.
