Love the sock top. I trail run on rocks and they perform very well. I have many of these so I am never without when one pair wears out. I’ve had them last a year with near daily hiking so for the price they are a bargain. And the barefoot feel is great. They are rather slippy on loose, fine rock but the tread is great for solid rock or other surfaces. These are the best fitting minimalist, barefoot shoes I’ve ever had. If you are not going to be wearing socks, order a half size or size smaller so they hug your foot well. You don’t want a sloppy fit. So far they fit relatively well. They fit great around the ankle and the toe area stays put so no slapping sounds as i run. I did a couple of workup distances of 5k in them, and did 12 miles this morning.
