Garlic Press Stainless Steel Propresser/Ginger Press - Heavy Duty/Large Capacity Garlic Chamber - Strong Handles with Hanging Loop

I used the Garlic press yesterday and it works great.

It arrived about a week ago and broke after three uses. It was advertised as a tool to crush garlic and ginger. The plastic section of the handle broke off in my hand as I tried to crush a piece of ginger root. The ginger was fresh and full of moisture, ideal for crushing.

I think this press works very well. I have two complaints however, after washing it by hand the day before I used it, when I was pressing the garlic, water dripped out from behind the black thing that is meant for cleaning the press. I then noticed that the black thing was a bit loose (it fits into an opening). I tried to exchange it, but Amazon explained that they can't do that so they are just refunding my money. I am having my husband take out the black thing and re-glue it so water can't get in there. If they fixed that problem and made the presser head a bit bigger so that it completely filled the space that it presses into so that the whole garlic gets pressed out instead of some of it going up the sides, this would be completely perfect.

This garlic press functions better than all plastic models. However, I feel that the clearance between hammer and the compartment is too wide, thus allowing a large portion of the garlic to squeeze past the hammer. Also, the composite handles seem weak. I do not understand why there are metal inserts in the handles that easily are displaced when squeezing during operation - I would remove them from the design. A passable garlic press. It is the best so far among the current designs for garlic presses.

Great little tool, the perfect size, and very easy to clean. Just what I wanted and I love it.

The handle fell apart after 2 uses, and there's a gap between the sides of the "squisher" where garlic gets trapped instead of coming through the holes.

Pros: Nice looking. Attractive, smooth finish. Fairly easy to clean, which is why it gets 2 stars. Cons: Maybe my 69 year old left hand is unusually strong (I'm left handed), but the handles flex to the point where I can squeeze them completely together. Also, the fake chrome rings inside the holes in the handles pop out in normal use. Not such a big deal as they seem to be purely decorative, so I just removed them. But my big problem with this press is that it doesn't even begin to press all of the garlic. I always peel the garlic first, but no matter how much or how little garlic I press, it seems like almost half of it just gets mashed up in a glob and a fair amount of it oozes up around the pressing part rather than going through the holes like it's supposed to.

Very strong. But I wonder if the shine will last...
