Strong bond and ease of use
Easy to use and forms a good bond. Works well to repair the cork of my Birkenstocks.

Excellent product in the right size package for the right price
I've used Barge Cement in the red & yellow 32 oz. can with the brush inside for years and am familiar with how it works. and it always worked great! But after repairing one or two pair of shoes, I was left with 30 oz in the can which got thick sitting in my workshop for a couple of years due to the solvent evaporating and I would go to use it and of course, it was too thick and "dry". Recently a good part of the sole on one of my Merrell waterproof shoes detached and of course my Barge Cement in a can was so thick it would hardly drip from the include brush (again). So, I was stuck with whether I should buy another 32 oz. can of Barge cement for $35-$40 so I could use 2 oz. or so to repair my shoes. In checking, I found this new formula (no Toluine) in a more reasonable size and for a more reasonable price. I was skeptical at first, particularly due to some of the bad reviews, and partially because of the new formula, but bought it anyway and it worked just as well as the original Barge Cement I was accustomed to using! 1) Clean the area 2) apply the glue thinly to both surfaces 3) let dry for 15-20 minutes 4) press the two surfaces together - if necessary, clamp them 5) let dry/cure overnight and then use them! Worked like a champ and saved myself around $30. Used my newly repaired shoes to walk the dog this morning! In reviewing some of the negative reviews, it seems the majority of them got old cement that's been sitting around a while, and the solvent had partially evaporated.

Barge All-Purpose Cement is the best available.
For years I've used it for leather and kydex projects and it is the best, by far, I've ever used.

Sticky! That's good.
Seems to be holding. I used it on the soles of motorcycle boots. I'll be surprised if it holds. Not because of the glue, that seems strong.

Serious adhesiveโbonds fast and holds strong Review
This stuff works. I used it for repairs where normal glue fails and the bond is strong and durable once cured. Follow the directions (apply to both surfaces, let it tack up, then press) and it holds extremely well. Strong odor, so use ventilation and be preciseโonce it grabs, itโs not forgiving.

Amazing!
This product is so easy to use, and it works wonderfully! My daughter happened to step on the back of my sandal in the grocery store, breaking the straps off, and I thought for sure that I would have to throw my (pretty expensive) sandals away. I researched products that might help fix them, and I found this product. When it arrived, I immediately applied it to my sandal, using clothespins to hold the strap together. After only a few minutes, I could tell that the adhesion had started. Within 24 hours, the sandal was like new. There is very little residue visible. The product was easy to work with but very sticky! Overall, I am thrilled that this product saved my sandal!

Barge Rubber cement
Not sure why this review is asking about shoe information for glue, but here it goes. Barge rubber cement is just that - rubber cement. It works as you would expect rubber cement to work. It is neither stronger nor weaker than any other rubber cement I have ever used. It has a yellow color when dried if you use too much of it. You are supposed to put on a small amount and spread it out on both sides of the two materials you are attempting to bond. You are also supposed to scuff or rough up the two sides that will be bonded together prior to using the glue. Make sure the two sides are clean, dry, and free of any oils, compounds, or other chemicals. Once you put the glue on the two sides and spread it out, you have to wait for it to dry. Once you push the two sides together, they are bonded. No more work. If you are looking for something that will fix splits or cracks in vinyl or leather, look elsewhere. This is rubber cement, not a miracle bonding agent.
