Will this seed fall and bloom on the ground?

The sunflower is hulled and the nyjer is heat treated to prevent weed seeds and germination. So it will not bloom

I have a lantern feeder that I brought sometime back. Will it work for this kind of blend for the birds?

You could but afinch feeder is better. FYI, I had to buy a second feeder because the first got so crowded. They go crazy for this mix.

Is this “sterilized” bird seed?

Hello! The Nyjer® in the Wild Delight® Special Finch® food has been sterilized. All imported Nyjer® seed (Guizotia abyssinica, niger seed) is sterilized by intense heat to help prevent germination of any additional seeds that may be part of the mix. Guizotia abyssinica (niger) seeds may enter the U.S. only if treated at one of the authorized facilities. Please keep in mind that even though some of the seeds in this mix have been sterilized, it does not mean that germination will not take place. All seeds dropped on the ground, in the right conditions, have the potential to germinate.
