What is the shortest guard

About a 1/4in. There's a good selection of guards. I don't use one at all? I use to have a lot of hair but as time marches on! This is my 2nd Wahl, dropped the other one to many times and after 32 years its done its share of hair cuts. Keep it clean and oiled, it will last for years.

can I use the wahl elite pro for beard trimming and cutting ?

You can, but I tried it today and found it a bit big and unwieldy--especially for getting at the mustache. Wahl makes something called a "Peanut," specifically for beard trimming. It has all the guard attachments and performance of a Wahl clipper, but it's about 1/4 the size (maybe 2" long and not quite 1" wide), so very good for precision use.

can you ise standard wahl guards on this? (the ones that dont have the metal)

Yes, the metal blade guard is the same as other Wahl clippers, so the plastic clips will fit.

My blade broke, is there a part number for the blade so I can replace it?

I own the Elite Pro and my wife says the blades are dulling. Only the second code (B001L8ND0E) worked to find the product on Amazon. For fun I went to the Wahl site as well and can only find a 1045-100 blade (https://wahlpro.com/products/blades/1045-100-2-hole-blade/), and this model of clipper is not specifically listed. Are they the correct blades at the Wahl site?
