First cutting hay is the high fiber stuff. It isn't as fattening as the later cuts, but has more of the flowery heads. It is not quite as soft as the 2Cnd and 3rd cut. It is meant for animals who have chronic GI/digestive tract issues, and require as much fiber as possible. 1St cutting timothy hay - high fiber and great quality! quality characteristics of 1St cutting "high fiber": 1. Higher fiber than any other cutting 2. More flower heads than any other cutting 3. A little more stem than 2Nd cutting, but still very soft and Leafy.

Review: The ONLY hay I will feed. - I wont feed my bunny anything else. This is a consistent product. I especially appreciate that I can order first cutting to receive a nice stem for a rabbits gut health. There's not much else to say. This is nice and green and fragrant of nutritional quality. It's solidly packed and there's even a little card in it from the person who packed it. Kind of like the preverbal mint on the pillow. I've never had a single issue with mold or poor quality. If your not feeling your rabbit this, you really should be because I've also never had an issue with GI stasis in my rabbit.

But this is a great product-thank you for the great quality! Will definitely be ordering again-I think I found our brand of choice!

**Q: There’s multiple points where this item says it’s 8lbs, however it also says it’s 96 oz (6lbs). Am I paying for 6 or 8?**
A: Before seeing your question, I felt my box was so light that I measured it.  I expected 8 pounds, but only received 6 pounds.

**Q: I placed an order for 10 lbs. i received 5.6 lbs. doesn't seem quite right to me to not get what i paid for. can i get the rest of what i paid for?**
A: Go on your Amazon and you can call or text (I text) and tell them, they will fix it in some way. They have done it in the past for me.

**Q: What cutting is this?**
A: I believe it’s second cutting. It’s crispy and my rabbits love it! I used to feed them Oxbow and since I’ve switched to this, they eat significantly more hay.

**Q: Does this hay have seeds that would affect composting or just put in a garden?**
A: We don't recommend the hay be used for composting.
