I've been waiting to write a review about Toppik until I've used a few bottles to see how the product holds up in different weather and conditions. I absolutely love it. I have Alopecia and (bad) thinning on my crown. I wore a partial hairpiece for years, which looked great and did the trick. But for any of you ladies out there in the same position, you know what a human hairpiece means. It's expensive, so for me, I could only have two, and they were identical pieces. They were dyed to match my hair, which meant I had to color my hair exactly the same color for years. And the style never changed, short bob forever. Not to mention the maintenance, head forms in the bathroom, and having to replace the hairpieces when they wear out. I decided to give Toppik a try because I wanted to see if I could use it and feel comfortable with my own hair. To explain my level of thinning, I would never go out of the house without a hat or hairpiece. Ever. Once I started using Toppik, the hairpieces and head forms went into the closet and they haven't come back out! I love love love this stuff. I started out using Toppik with the spray applicator, which worked well for a while. But then I noticed the spray applicator wasn't working as well as it once had. I would pump once and have to wait forever for the air to refill the pumper and it would take a long time to cover my thinning areas using this method. So I finally popped the sprayer off and used the shake method. Works like a charm. Because I am thin all over my crown, I use the sharp end of a comb, start at one side of my head, slightly above my ear, and create a part to the back of my head. Shake on the Toppik from back to front (careful near your face! it can be messy). Repeat the process about half an inch apart all the way across my head. Once I'm done, I use a cotton ball to clean my face and hairline of any Toppik that has gotten out of control (especially check the nose and under your eyes). Quick check with a handheld mirror for coverage, and then I usually use some type of defrizz or smoother on my hair. When I put that on, I do end up with Toppik on my hands from rubbing my hair, no biggie. After that I use regular hairspray which seems to work well to lock the Toppik in place. I believe there is a product you can buy to do this, but I've never used it. Since I've started using Toppik I've grown my hair out. I haven't had long hair in about 10 years because I had to conform to the hairpiece, but not anymore! I can wear my hair wavy or straight again, when before I always had to blow-dry it straight to match the hairpiece. I love my hair again, which isn't something I thought I would ever be able to say. And there is a weird side effect of the Toppik for me. Normally if I wash my hair in the morning, and don't use Toppik, by the next morning, my hair is starting to get a little greasy, not a problem if I'm wearing a hat, but even before my hair loss, I washed my hair every day. When I use the Toppik, my hair looks awesome the second day! It ends up super full from the roots down and not oily at all. I can sometimes go three days without washing it, which would have seemed crazy to me before using this product. The best I can surmise is that the Toppik absorbs the oil my scalp is secreting?? Anyway, I don't really care, because it means I can get two, sometimes three great hair days out of one styling and application of the Toppik. So the downside? It is really messy. No matter how careful I am, I still end up with Toppik all over the sink and counter, and I use dark brown, so it really shows. As messy as it is, I really don't care. It could be ten times messier and I would still use it. Because until you've gone through the difficulty of losing your hair, you will never understand how amazing it feels to get compliments on your own real hair again!! I have been out in the rain with no problem, and worked out. While working out, when my head gets sweaty and I wipe it with a towel, there is Toppik on the towel. I just make sure to be careful. Have not gone swimming in it, and probably won't try. I've also used Great Hair Day powder and really liked it, but for the amount of coverage I now need, Toppik is the product for me. If you are on the fence, order the smallest size and try it. You can always send it back if it doesn't work for you, and it could change the way you feel about your hair!

I am a skeptical person....so before ordering this I did a lot of research. The claims they made seemed legitimate so I decided that it couldnt hurt to buy it once and try it. I am in my mid-20s and have started to see some thin areas in the front of my hair line, sort of above my temples. It started on one side in my early 20s, then on both as time went on. You could only really notice if my hair was short. I am an actor, so when I decided to start doing films after being mostly a theater actor for so many years, I grew out my hair and used to slick it up...sort of like a modern James Dean pompadour in the front. The rest of my head is fairly thick but very thin in the front. I didn't notice how thin until I saw myself in one of the rough cuts of my first short film. I was so embarrassed. Luckily the film was never completed or released. I decided that before I do another film, I should find a product to help. Since I wasn't thinning at a rapid rate, I figured a "hiding" solution could help for the meantime. I came across Toppik and (after research) ordered a bottle. I tried it out and instantly saw how it was covering my thinning areas. After two uses, I ordered the spray applicator. This was crucial!! If you want to have more control over where you apply, make a bottle last much longer, and avoid spilling it all over the place, buy the spray applicator. A bottle can last me months!! I'm serious. So I style my hair with some Axe paste, push up the front, and then spray Toppik to the thin areas in the front of my head and instantly my scalp is no longer visible through my hair! You also can't even tell that I'm using any type of product. I would advice getting a shade darker than your natural hair as it tends to look lighter than you think. I've been using Toppik for over a year and have only ordered my second bottle. It holds all day long, unless you get your hair submerged in water. It will run on your fingers if you touch the areas immediately after applying it but it will not come off on your hands later in the day... if a female happens to run her hands through your hair, dont worry fellas. Even if you go to sleep and wake the next day, it's still there! Only after you shower or wash your hair will it come out. It will rinse off easily with water too. It doesnt make your hair look or feel nasty. If you apply a lot and look really closely, you can see the little fibers attached to your hair fibers but only if you really look for it. I've never told anyone I know that I use a product and no one has ever commented on it, such as "what's in your hair?" In fact, I've been told "you have great hair." I simply smile and say "Thank you!" This product has truly made a huge impact on me. My hair looks great on camera...it looks thick and full. I've recently decided to try a monodoxil regime in order to reverse or slow-down the thinning process. Luckily for me it is thinning slow but I imagine but my mid-30s I may have more apparent baldness. I have leading man looks and can't afford to be balding. Take it from me, buy this product! It works wonders. Buy the spray applicator too. I am a customer for life or at least until my thinning worsens.

My husband uses this regularly. It helps with making his hair look full but natural. Does not sweat off or end up on clothes. Very rarely have I seen it on a pillowcase. Works great for camera or filming to fill in against bright lights. Best we’ve found.

So, if you're bothering to read reviews about anything like this in your ongoing battle with baldness, then let me be clear, right up front - the hair loss is winning the war. To terribly misquote Jim Morrison, "No hair gets out of here alive".... So, you're hoping against all odds that some miracle product will be a cheap, effective, undetectable cure-all in your fight against genetics or disease...well, the good news is THIS PRODUCT KIND OF WORKS. Let me be as transparent as the fine little hairs you're hoping will grow on your head - if you have some hair, but it's thinning pretty bad, this stuff will make it look fuller and hide some of the dreaded scalp showing through - however, if you plan on people getting really close to it, you can see the toppik on your scalp (at least, the dark colors show up if you're Caucasian or light skinned) - but this should work well for a job interview, a date in a restaurant, an acting/theatre gig, maybe even a family gathering - but if you plan on getting lucky and he/she not noticing the smudges on the pillow in the morning, you are out of luck....If battling hair loss is what you're up against, then Toppik is, metaphorically, another tool in the tool box. Use it with along with everything else - but use it in moderation. Too much and you're a powdered, bald donut. Finally, don't blindly listen to the claims by some of these Amazon reviewers saying it's "amazing" and "no one noticed" - because, if anyone looked close enough, they probably could tell you've got cornstarch type colored powder layering your nearly hairless scalp. On the other hand, don't listen to all these complainers saying it doesn't work at all or that it's garbage - they're just angry, balding trolls with sweaty scalps who were just hoping to find a dirt cheap solution to a problem that has plagued men and women forever. If you have little or no hair, this product really won't work - but if you're in the middle of your hair-less fight, you'll have some pretty good luck with this. I hope this review helps - as I'm someone who's done Bosley, Propecia, Rogaine, Toppik, Tocotrienols and have had some luck with all of them. If, after my long winded review you're still unsure (and you should be) then buy the tiny cheap bottle of Toppik (it will set you back around $10 with shipping) - it's a small price to pay to see if a product works for you. Finally! Something other than brown eyeshadow and wet/greasy root touchup spray that covers my hormonal hair loss happening at my part. I’ve just started minoxidil treatments to hopefully start regrowing hair, but that could take 6 months to a year to work, so this is great to have to cover my humiliating insecurity (aka bald island) in the meantime! Hair loss has been my biggest and most recent perimenopause related insecurity and this product has been a game changer. Pros: perfect, natural match, binds immediately to existing hair and doesn’t look like you painted your head with (eyeshadow) Cons: essentially comes in a salt shaker, but falls like big, gentle, soft snow flakes that melt when they hit the ground. Great for the intended location, not great for your floors, counters, clothing or face. Just be careful and drape a towel over you if you’re wearing light colors!

I ordered my first can of Toppick Hair Building Fibers based on the mostly good reviews by other users. I agree that this is a good product. It's not great, it doesn't make me suddenly look like I have lots of hair, but I must say that it is better than the hair I "naturally" have now. Apparently due to aging, my once very thick hair has thinned drasically in the past ten years, and I have tried many, many products in an effort to either regrow hair, or to give the illusion of more hair. Toppick is applied after shampooing, drying and styling, and on top of any other hair thickening products. It is a fine powder that is manually shaken from the can. Toppick is sold in several different color shades and "Light Brown" is the first shade that I tried, as I have light brown hair with blond highlights, neither of which are my natural shade. After the first few shakes, I discovered that there were more hair building fibers all over my shoulders, shirt and the bathroom than on my head. I invested in the applicator made to fit over the top of the can and I urge anyone who is interested in trying Toppick, to do the same. The nozzle-tip applicator makes it much easier and neater to apply this product. The major plusses of Toppick are that it hides my shiny pink scalp and I find that the fibers do give the illusion of more hair. The minuses include: 1. I need to use a lot of Toppick to achieve the desired results, making this product more expensive than I thought it would be; 2. I need to use a special "spray" to get the fibers to stick in place, adding another expense; 3. Any time I comb or "fix" my hair during the day, the Toppick fibers come out, so I need to reapply which is not easily accomplished when not at home; and 4. the powder texture dulls the look of my hair. Since the minuses are greater than the plusses, for me, I gave the Toppick Hair Building Fibers, Light Brown, only 3 stars. Will I continue to use this product? Absolutely - I haven't found anything else that hides my "naked" scalp and gives even a slight illusion of more hair as well as as the Toppick Fibers. Will I continue to use Rogaine as well as other thickening and volume building products? Absolutely - at least until a magic potion is developed to successfully regrow hair, or my vanity weakens. If you are a mature woman and your crowning glory has been reduced to just a few strands, I would highly recommend that you give Toppick a try, just don't make your expecttions too high.

Amazing!!! This is some magic dust. Took the suggestions from other reviews on application. 1. Open it upside down 2. Shake and tap in the area where hair is thinning. (Had my spouse help me the first few times but now I can easily dust out a nice head of hair on my own) 3. Use fingers to gently blend 4. Use hair spray to keep things in place Hair feels great. Can run my hands through it no problems. Doesn’t leave any marks on my pillow if I decide to leave it in a couple days. Washes out easy in the shower. This has been a huge boost for me. Great purchase choice! Tip: style your hair before hand and have this be the last thing you do.

Been using Toppik for a while now and it has become a regular part of my morning routine. I have some thinning around the temples and crown, and this product genuinely makes a noticeable difference. When applied correctly and paired with the fiber hold spray, my hair looks significantly fuller in just a couple of minutes. The dark brown shade I ordered matches my hair well with no obvious streaking or color mismatch. Application takes a little practice to get right. Too much and it looks unnatural, too little and you are not getting the full effect. But once you get the hang of how much to shake out and where to apply it, you can get results that genuinely fool people. I have had no comments about my hair looking different or artificial, which is the best possible outcome. The main downsides are that it does come off on pillowcases and if you get caught in the rain without setting spray, it will shed. Also, heavy sweating at the gym can cause it to migrate. These are limitations worth knowing going in. That said, for normal daily wear in an office or social setting, it holds up well and gives you a confidence boost that is hard to put a price on. Solid product that delivers on what it promises.

Excellent product. I’ve had some hair thinning due to chemotherapy and this product has enabled me to ‘fill in the gaps’ on my scalp so that no one would know how much hair I’ve lost. It magically appears to attach itself to my head no matter whether I’ve been out in inclement weather and has enabled me to go out in public with confidence. I would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone and have indeed bought some for a friend.

My son struggles with hair thinning due to health issues and this is a life saver for him. You cannot see it really when applied well. Leaves the scalp bit dirty but provides so much comfort to people with hair loss. We have been using it for 2years now.

Been using this product for a couple of years now. Fantastic! Hides the obvious thinning hair. Colours naturally that shiny white scalp that magnifies thin hair loss. Like this size for travel, small & weightless enough to always keep in purse. * use this morning from a larger bottle. Keep this handy for touch ups during the day if needed but haven't had to use it so far. It stays on all day unless you brush it or rub it off which doesn't usually happen. Good to have in purse just in case. Came on time as promised & I highly recommend it in any size for those who need it!
