Full disclosure: even though I'm a woman, men's boots almost always fit me better. This is mostly because I have a high arch, and men's boots that are the right size have room for an arch support, but most women's boots don't. Men's boots also have a little more room in the toe box, which I like. I was looking for a work boot for the yard, some light construction and those chores you need to do in knockaround boots. I ordered these, the Corax and the women's Lander. These boots are a traditional, substantial, heavy work boot. They do not have a steel toe or shank, but the thickness and stiffness of the leather will offer plenty of protection under most conditions. The shaft laces over the ankle and will give a lot of support at times when footing is uncertain. The boot fits true to size, for me anyway. The sole, stitching, finish and overall quality were terrific. In many ways, these were the boots I thought I was looking for, and if I was going to be wearing them every day they would probably have been the ones I kept. The reason I didn't keep them is because I'm *not* going to wear them every day. These boots are stiff enough to need breaking in--the kind you can only do if you're wearing them every day. I need a pair that are comfy out of the box, since I will only wear them on the weekends. But if you wear your boots every day, these will probably take a week or so to break in comfortably across the ball of your foot and around the ankle--the bendy places. I wore them about an hour and they were already a bit more flexible. In case you are wondering, I surprised my self by opting for the women's boot (the Lander) as a work boot. But even more surprising was the Corax--one of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I literally did not want to take them off. I'm keeping them as well. (I'll review both of the other pairs.) I have been buying and wearing these Caterpillar second shift soft toe 8 1/2 Wide boots for at least the last 15 years and have loved them. They have always taken a week or two to break in , but have always been somewhat comfortable and fit well right out of the box. The pair that I just bought on Amazon was extremely tight and all the material , the leather, and the collar were hard as a rock. It was so uncomfortable that I immediately took them off and checked the size written on the tongue of the boot, assuming they sent me the wrong size by mistake. They didn't, it was an 8 1/2 W . I don't know what Caterpillar has done but it was a big mistake and a very noticeable change in quality. The only difference that I noticed was that they were made in Vietnam instead of China, so maybe the different factory had different machines with different metrics to size the boots. I don't know and don't really care because I'm not going to keep on ordering bigger sizes and hope that they will fit right. Besides like I said, they were hard as a rock , I've never bought boots with leather that hard and inflexible. I was extremely disappointed because I have always loved these boots and love the way they look as well. So, I was faced with the chore of finding a new boot that was equivalent to what these used to be and hopefully not spend a fortune in doing so. I tried the walmart equivalent and it was very mediocre, did not have stitching to the sole and didn't look that great. Then I just purchased a pair of Wolverine floorhand 6" soft toe boots on Amazon which was truly a wide boot for my wide feet and felt great right out of the box, so I guess I have found my new boot. Hopefully , they will hold up as well as my old Cats. Time will tell. They also have a good look like the Cats do. I hope this is helpful to those in the same predicament!!!!

Amazing boot, size i ordered was 42.5 EU but delivered 42 only. Still it fits perfectly. Happy with this purchase specally in this price. Boots are made in Bangladesh not in china.
