I wore it over black leggings (deep winter here). The lei, headband, and wristlet flowers are unbelievably colorful and pretty!! really vibrant two-tone colors, bright tangerine, raspberry. They are of a very thin fabric material, not plastic or paper. I supplemented my costume with dollar store items (black hair extensions, mini guitar 'ukelele', dark makeup, sunglasses) and got so many comps. And I had no issue with any questionable odor of the items, and the grass strings were not kinked out of the package.
