I replaced the windshield in my Jeep Wrangler twice. The first time I bought a pull knife which is the standard tool used to cut out a windshield. The pull knife was completely useless. It would not cut anything! I tried to remove the windshield in one piece, but it broke into a million pieces, I cut myself. It was a mess. The second time, I didn't want to repeat that nightmare, so I researched alternative methods. I came across this Tool Aid Windshield cut-out wire. This was the best ten bucks I ever spent!!!! I put duck tape around the outside of the windshield to protect the paint. I cut a length of 15-20' of this wire. I used two pieces of wood as handles. Pull off the outer molding, tuck the wire under the corners of the windshield on the drivers side and gently pull the wire back and forth from the passengers side so the wire saws through the urethane seal. It took less than 5 minutes to cut the entire seal. The urethane seal was smoking! I was laughing as I effortlessly cut the seal around the entire windshield. Cuts it like butter!!!!! I threw my old pull knife in the garbage immediately. This worked awesome! I will never use anything else. Absolutely the right tool for the job. You will be amazed. Couldn't be happier! I purchased it to slide behind some bathroom mirrors that had been attached with adhesive to the wall without breaking the mirror, which failed. I couldn't get enough leverage on each side to make it work. I don't think it is course/gritty enough to cut wood. **Q: What is the thickness** A: You need the handles as well as the wire, which is really just braided wire.
