A great all round smart watch and fitness watch
I've started running again recently so wanted to track my progress, I immediately thought about a fitbit. Started looking at smart watches and just spent ages. Ended up a choice, I thought, between the versa 2 and Garmin vivosmart 4. Then I spotted this. I stayed to looking at the Samsung Galaxy watch but rejected quickly based on battery life, then this watch was suggested, and I have a Huawei P30 Pro phone (which is awesome by the way) so thought I'd take a look... the smaller (gt 42) size is good for me as I have a pretty normal size wrist for a bloke, so this watch doesn't look overly big (it doesn't look like a big smart watch) it is also very thin, no bigger than my existing mechanical watch. Screen is beautiful and clear with vibrant colours (loads of watch faces to choose from well) The GPS works fine, sleep measuring is good too.. Heartbeat and VO2 max all good .. You can set running targets and can see stats and hear from a coach as you run, so you know how well you're doing vs those targets... Everything works fine.. Loaded up 130 mps3 to listen to so don't need my phone with me when running, just Bluetooth to my earbuds... Annoying that it doesnt yet sync to Strava (although I understand this is being worked on).. The Huawei health app on my phone is great.. Lots of info so you can compare the same run pretty easily and see progress. Would be nice to be able to directly sync Amazon music, but no great hardship to copy across a load of tracks. All my social media alerts come across fine (and you can pick which ones you want to be notified of) Charging is really quick and the battery life is impressive.. Easy 4 - 5 days and that's with GPS use every day when walking and running on alternate days. My experience watching endless reviews and reading spec sheets is that there is compromise on every device. Be sure on what features you must have and what you'd like to have etc.. Then you can prioritise and compare. For me, battery life, having GPS and size were very important. This has been one of the most impressive pieces of tech I have bought for some years... And I do like my tech. Ps.. The price is also amazing given the spec Update 6 months later and I am still very impressed, works perfectly and now there are loads of watch faces to choose from as well. The only small point is that it only partially syncs data with Google fit and not at all with Strava.. They really should put that right.. Very easy to do if they wanted to. Given the price had dropped further now this is a fantastic buy in my opinion.. I would still buy this today if I were looking again.

Reliable syncing, reliable notification great watch
I've used fitbit watches for years now but now fed up with the unreliable syncing of fit it app and lack of notifications on fit it. I love this huawei gt 2 42mm. Battery life varies on how much you use your watch but so far a single charge lasted just over 5 days and that's with me playing around with various functions and trying different watch faces. Steps are taken from huawei health app on your phone as well as from your watch but the 2 are not far apart in what they read. Steps are more accurate than fitbit as fitbit takes almost any arm movement as a recorded step. App is easy to use and the only time I don't get a notification on my watch is if I don't have my phone with me such as when at work and its in my locker. There are plenty of different watch faces to choose from, some free others starting as little as 49p, all depends on your style and how much info you want displayed on your watch. You can't answer calls or messages on the 42mm but that's not why I wanted this watch I just wanted reliable call and message notifications and to track steps, sleep and my exercise. Can definitely recommend this watch it's not too heavy on your wrist and has a sleek elegant design and feel to it.

Best watch ever!
I have had several smart watches over the past decade and have been looking for a new one for over a year now. The problem is, I knew what I wanted but it didn't seem to exist. I am a woman with small wrists, so most smart watches look ridiculously big on me. I wanted something small and slim, round, with good battery life (several days minimum), decent activity tracking, notifications etc, and fairly smart. This watch has outperformed my needs and expectations in every aspect. I have even managed to find a strap for it which tapers in slightly making it even slimmer. Please don't be fooled though if you are a man reading this and think this watch is not for you. Stick a darker, thicker strap on it and chose and different watch face and it looks plenty masculine. Only had a slight issue with finding the app to connect the watch to my phone - apparently getting a Huawei app on a Samsung phone is a no-no! It was easily overcome though and now works fine.

A reasonably good all-rounder
I bought this for my husband who had previously had 'smart' watches, ranging from Sony (at the mid-range end) to cheap Chinese versions. He had principally used them for step counts and social and other media alerts. Having experienced these devices, he wanted to go slightly higher end and was impressed with reviews he had read about battery life on the GT2. As he has small wrists, he opted for this (the 42mm) version of the GT2, rather than the larger one. He would have preferred the larger version, for its better overall looks and functionality, but all in all, he was after comfort (the Sony for instance being far too large and uncomfortable). He has had the watch now for two months and uses it in conjunction with the Huawei Health app on his Huawei P30. Good points: the long battery life; comfort, smart sleek appearance; ultra-clear screen; GPS tracking; wide range of overall fitness options and stats recording; heart-rate (extremely accurate); the ability to change the watch strap; Bluetooth connectivity and range; stable connectivity. Bad points: the majority of watch faces have a typically 'tacky' Chinese look about them and there are not that many he likes (the default one is probably the best). Note: The Huawei app has already been updated several times and watch faces are always being added, so in time, he hopes more 'classy' watch-faces will be introduced; there is no ability in the app to say when sleep period starts and ends (it is either 'on' or 'off') and if he settles down for the night to watch TV, the watch thinks he has gone to sleep due to no activity! It clearly also cannot determine if he is awake but still but this is the same as most smart watches? So, this results in the watch recording more 'awake' periods i.e.when he goes to bed and this distorts his sleep quality stats; alerts vibration is weak (even when set to high); no mic/speaker. If considering this watch do consider the 46mm version as it does offer more functionality (such as the ability to use the watch to receive calls). Overall, my husband is very happy with his watch. The app is stable and reliable when used in conjunction with his Huawei phone. He only wishes he has bigger wrists so he could use the 46mm version.

Fantastic smart watch
Easy charging, the app is pretty good, screen good, battery life pretty good. I think if I installed it from my mobile battery would be longer but I had another brand which needed charging every 2 days. This lasts a week or so. Lots of features I wanted and none I didn't want. Great for the money. I have discovered a lot about my sleep from this and have made changes that have helped me sleep better. And it doesn't light up the bed when you turn over, like some others.

Has its downs but overall great watch
Love this watch. Is very slim and ligh it looks like your average watch. The only thing I don't like is that you can't really customise the watch faces. I suppose this is more of a fitness tracker than it is a watch but still would have likes more versatility. (I am biased as been using an apple watch for a while) Love this watch though and highly recomend it. From the box it had 57%batery. I have used a fay and a half now and it has 41%. Love the long lasting power of the batery.

A lightweight and absolutely beautiful design
One of the great things about Huawei's latest flagship smartwatch, the Watch GT 2, is that it can also be used with iOS devices and not just Android smartphones however, watch face gallery app are not fully compatible and therefore we can’t upload our photos 😕! I have downloaded some photons used my Huawei tablet. Summarise; On a HUAWEI WATCH 2 paired with an iOS device, you can track your workout data, change watch faces ( excluded our photos), and access HiVoice assistant. You’ll be able to read notifications and answer calls from your iPhone on the Watch GT 2, which are pretty essential features on any smartwatch. But unfortunately, you won’t have the ability to purchase new watch faces or control your music when you pair an iPhone and GT 2 Watch. An overly tight band can cause skin irritation. A band that's too loose can cause rubbing. If you experience redness, swelling, itchiness or any other irritation, worth to buy this watch! This is the first watch that does not make me any allergic reactions woohoo 🙌 😃 I definitely recommend this watch

great for a fitness aid
Although not as feature rich as other smart watches it makes up for it in other areas, the battery lasts about a week and the mobile app shows a lot of fitness and sleep data and seems to be pretty accurate. We have the Huawei scales and they work well together giving a lot of weight related measurements and seem to be very consistent. You can get basic smart features like messages and call notifications and alarms which is enough for me, maybe not enough for everyone. We have the Nokia/Withings fitness/smartwatch and scales and find the Huawei is preferred.
