PUREformance Pre-Mix Dog Food, Grain Free and Freeze-Dried - 8Lb Bag

I can't believe more people haven't caught on to it, it makes feeding raw (or home cooked) brainless and easy. There are no dogs in the world pickier than mine, and whether or not they eat this depends on the meat that is mixed in. You MUST add either raw or cooked meat to this premix (that's why it's called premix) since with the small amount of protein it's not complete on it's own. A little something they love sprinkled on top helps in the beginning too. This is a complete food (minus the protein) so I don't have to worry about cooking and chopping veggies, adding vitamins, etc. Just add either raw meat (I feed cornish hen, chicken, beef and occasionally lamb), diced cooked meat or for a super simple meal a can of the Merrick 96% meat varieties (or similar) and they have a complete, fresh, tasty meal with no nasties to worry about. A bit of canned tripe is also always a great enticement. Mixing up a few days worth of the premix andd storing in the fridge (I nuke it just enough to take the chill off before serving) simplifies it even more. (canned fish such as mackerel is also good but my dogs won't eat that either) I've tried several other premixes (and the Grandma Lucy's complete foods) and my guys won't touch them. They're either too chunky (veggies) or there's just plain too much alfalfa and/or herbs like rosemary. I have bag after bag in storage and have tried feeding it to the feral cats that roam our area, and even THEY won't touch them! It may take your pooch a few days of experimentation with different protein sources to catch on, but it's worth it, and once they do you can go back to adding different protein sources they may not have accepted during the transition phase. My guys have never been so healthy, and their coats are so shiny you can practically see yourself. This is also a great value. A 3# bag lasts me a good long time (2+ months with 3-20# dogs) and I can buy meat that's on sale. This stuff is great. It has all the right vegetables and supplements a dog needs, plus it's really easy to make. We tend to just mix a a few spoon fulls of this stuff with some water, let it sit for a few minutes and give it to our pup with other foods. Our dog is a picky eater when it comes to vegetables and he loves this stuff.

I was looking to place my dog on a raw diet due to his severe food allergies which caused him ear infections and skin rash. However, I wanted to find a pre-made raw food. This was perfect for us. It's a raw food base - just add a cup of whichever raw meat we prefer and he has a well rounded meal. My dog is a large breed, so I use one cup of the pre-mix plus one cup of raw meat per meal (2 meals per day). I also add a chicken liver or two about once a week which boosts some nutrient value. As for crunch, there is none with this food, so every other day I feed my dog a raw meaty bone (chicken thigh, chicken leg, turkey neck, etc...) for the crunch, teeth, and calcium factor. It has been about 3 weeks now. Not only does he love the food, but his allergy issues cleared up within a week! The rash was gone very fast. The ear infection is clearing for sure, but that takes a little longer. He seems happier, more energetic and he is not licking and chewing himself anymore. I am very happy with this food! As for price, it is a little expensive, but not as expensive as other pre-made raw food brands (kibble and/or mixes). Because of the size of my dog (90 pounds), the 8 pound bag only lasts me about 3 weeks, and I do wish it was a little less expensive for that reason. However, I am going to stick with this food anyway because it agrees with my dog and that is what is really important. He means a lot to me and I am willing to sacrifice a little to make it work.

I've used both this and Honest Kitchen and would recommend both. Grandma Lucy's has two pre-mix options. I like both this and the Artisan. The Artisan smells like mashed potatoes, so it's got that going for it. If you're looking for a good option for your dog, I like this food. It's pliable and you can add all kinds of things to suit your needs. I use this as my 3 dogs morning meal and add in their supplements. You can mix with cottage cheese, goat milk, bone broth, left over soup, chicken, beef or whatever you have. I feed a 5 month old puppy 1/2 cups in the morning. My two older dogs split 1/2 cup. A bag will last about 2 months. I've used this, Honest Kitchen and Sojos. My dogs eat this and Honest Kitchen but won't touch Sojos. For anyone on the fence, I'd suggest buying a small bag either here or at a local pet store. These manufactures typically offer a return guarantee, so if your dogs don't like it, you're not out $60.

We were introduced to Grandma Lucy's at a local pet store. It has high quality ingredients inside. We bought the Grandma Lucy's Artisan premix prior to buying the Grandma Lucy's PureFormance pre mix, the difference is the PureFormance does not have potatoes, it has Chickpeas instead, which are healthier. The Premix is best for us because you can pre cook a weeks worth of Protein and then heat it up and mix with the pre mix, then change the protein to another meat the following week and so on. It's really neat how the premix fluffs up and absorbs all the water, it smells pleasant and our Italian greyhound really loves this stuff. It does not have any bad ingredients, and it's manufactured in California.

In my never-ending attempt at trying to give my wagging tail horde the best foods, I've tried different freeze-dried products. This one's a little different than the others, it comes more as a serial consistency and when you put it in water it clearly absorbs the moisture and becomes almost like an oatmeal mixture. You can see the different products as it reconstitutes. It takes about 1 to 2 minutes of letting it sit in the water and then it's ready to go. I do mix it with some canned in order to give them a variety of different food types. From my experience, the dogs have absolutely no problem loving it. No stomach issues. No belly problems. Even when they seem to get a little G.I. distress from whatever item they may have eaten in the yard, they eat this without any problems. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is it is a little bit messier to scoop out and reconstitute. Many of the freeze-dried products are a little larger and more pebble like or biscuit like. This is very fine cereal in its form and seems to be a little messier when scooping it out of the bag. I'm not certain if it's superior to other products on the market, but all my dogs love it. It appears to be a very good product. The ingredients are excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this

We have been using Grandma Lucy's Pure Formance for almost 2 years. I use to buy it locally but it is cheaper for us to buy it on Amazon. It is the greatest natural food I have found as my Bichon has reoccurring bladder struvite stones and it seems to be the best food that helps her keep her PH in a steady place. We just add some chopped up boiled chicken to it and water.... We give the same to our second Bichon because it is that good, she doesn't have a bladder issue. They both love it a real lot. We buy 2 bags usually at a time. They each get 3/4 of a cup, add chicken and water., We give them half of it for lunch and the other half for dinner; We had to buy special bowls to slow them down when eatting it as they were gulping and getting air pockets which makes them throw up. So now the new bowls (which we got on Amazon) slows them down and they are much healthier eating. They are 10 and 11 years old.

Ok so to be honest, my dog won't touch it, but in all fairness my little guy is SUPER picky. He only eats things like venison, bison, and roast chicken, and won't eat anything twice in a row. The only vegetables he'll eat consistently are raw carrots. I was very hopeful and thought we had a winner as the first night he gobbled it up, but after a few meals of the stuff he turned up his nose and won't touch it since. HOWEVER, i still gave it 5 stars, because its so obviously a top quality food, this is very obvious as soon as you open the bag and examine the contents. I'm also pretty sure that 98% of dogs aren't as picky as mine and should love it. Full disclosure, i actually ate some myself. Its rather bland as-is but with some salt and pepper it tastes great, and would make for excellent survival food. No joke.
