Life in Slow Motion

Life In Slow Motion is one of my top 10 favorite albums ever. David Gray writes some interesting songs and very heartfelt music. Every song on this album has a meaning to me and when a musician/band does that it makes the listen even better. Favorite songs on here is "life in slow motion" and "disappearing world". David gray is one of the best songwriters in the past 20 years its just sad he doesn't get the recognition he deserves as a songwriter,singer and musician.

Even White Ladder's the best work yet from David Gray, this CD gives something else: planning. What? Plannig? Yes... White Ladder was the last chance for Mr Gray to continue in the music bussiness and eventually it would be his best selling album. But here, you don't feel presion, hurry or even a simple mod. Everything here is where it has to be. Mr. Gray is a talented man and you can notice he planned everything in detail. He was so precise that you have to use hearphones to notice some details on his music and vocals (that's not a problem for me but maybe some people could think it is... besides if you use a Home Theather you'll notice everything). You have to listen this work several times to get it but when you do, you get an incredible experience. Don't waste your time thinking that Gray has left his talent behind... here is the proof you need to know that the better is yet to come. BTW... this edition DOES NOT offers 5.1 sound. Only PCM so you might want to consider your buying for the regular edition. If you are not an English speaker, you'll find this edition useful since the lyrics appears on screen while you listen to the music. I love that!

I'm an artist who needs background music to set the mood for my day and this is my latest discovery. The clear acoustic quality is simply a joy on some tracks and a lush orchestration is perfect for others.Do I really like David Gray's music? Well I'm new to it but I can say that I'm even blogging about music on my Art blog. That's entirely because of offerings like this."Alibi" and "The One I Love" kick the CD off with lyrical qualities and the rest of the music falls in line in a most lovely way. I heard an Allison Krause like vocal in "From Here You Can Almost See The Sea," and the unmistakable influence of Bob Dylan in "Ain't No Love." And it's amazing how "Dissapearing World" is positively Lennon-esqueBut after all that, who could have predicted that I would ever utter the following words: One of my favorites just has to be "Hospital Food."It's got something special and I look forward to exploring more of this artists work.Visit me at [...]and [...]

Played just fine, timely delivery

It seems that David Gray's life has changed for the worse. At least that's what it semms from his music. Life In Slow Motion is an utter heartache.From the forlorn opener Alibi to the current single The One I Love, Gray displays a kind of helplessness that builds around love. The album the culminates to a high in the middle with the title track Slow Motion,From Here You Can Almost See The Sea and Ain;t No Love, the trilogy of songs that express the unexpressed of a draggy life, of unrequited love and of being unloved. The songs are often heavy-hearted, interspersed with one or two more uplifting tracks in between before closing with yet another pair of poignant tracks, the beautiful Now and Always and the aching Disappearing World.The dualdisc features the album in 5.1 stereo on the DVD side as well as a short documentary on the making of the album plus photographs. Nice little extras but not essential. Get the normal edition if youcan do without these.

There is something very cinematic about David Gray's "Life In Slow Motion". It begins like a dream drifting back in time - like snow falling on a quiet troubled world (that's what I'm feelin). The next song "The One I Love" is a poignant love song from the lips of a dying man. Next song - depression - "honey lately I've been way down". What follows are more songs of depression, desperation, and beauty. What a soulful voice David Gray has. "Life In Slow Motion" is very well produced - with piano, strings and the occasional well placed synth. It sounds contemporary and yet old at the same time. I love it - I think it's his best album.

excellent album

I think i was just expecting too much.The album is still fantastic to listen to, but at first it was not clear what the "dual" disc would deliver.I hoped for a multichannel version of the normal CD, but it was only "enhanced" stereo.In what way it is enhanced? I wouldn't know.. My amplifier normally states if it is 96 or 192Khz but in this case it didn't gave a clue on what bitrate the DVD side was recorded..Shame, as i really enjoyed many (multichannel) DVD-A's and SACD on my system.

On first hearing I thought, this isn't a patch on White Ladder, then I ignored my prejudices and listened properly. It's a collection of beautifully written songs and I wish I'd bought it a long time ago.

David Gray never disappoints. I've heard quite a few of the tracks on this album in live performance and so to have them on an album is great. Hard to say which I like best of the tracks - they all get a four or five star rating from me.

This is one of the my favourite albums and a masterpiece. Poetry set to music. It is calming, thought-provoking and a real balm for your mind. Perfect music to listen to in bed to fall asleep to.My favourite track is 'Disappearing World' and the picture it paints is painfully vivid.

Totally, totally, brilliant......his best ever!! Like this sensitive artist has been on a road-trip which has shown his poet spirit how to capture his heart and soul and put it into this collection of breathtaking songs......everything resonates on a first hearing. That's what makes this remarkable. It ought to be a classic like White Ladder. It's if the same calibre.
