The battery life is good, the original batteries are still working. It's easy to use and reasonably priced.

This thing is absolutely fantastic. Despite not being designed to read 1577 nm light, it still reads it quite accurately when set to 1550. I sometimes have only a1-2 db variance compared to a $150 light meter I have on hand. The visual fault locator is WONDERFULLY bright and works fantastic on APC and UPC connectors. I can easily determine where issues are, and it is frankly brighter than a $100 VFL I have. Fantastic features that are way better than a $28 package has any right to include. It feels sturdy, with a fairly hard rubber shell that I feel could easily handle drops onto concrete, unlike the $150 light meter I have. I use this more often than I use the other one now.

Light meter and visual fault locator in one package. That’s very handy and it’s in a compact form. It’s less than half the size of my company supplied meter. Plus I don’t have to carry two tools when I can carry one. The large backlit screen is also great for my aging eyes. Easy to read. It comes with a single led as a “flashlight” but that’s a really gimmicky feature. I’d never use it for anything, but points for trying. I didn’t buy it for that so no big deal. It also comes with a little lanyard. I should’ve left it off because I keep my meter in a tool pouch. All it does is catch on my needle nose pliers. It’s pretty annoying. The auto shut off feature is nice if you are using the light meter. But not so great if you need if for VFL. The way I use these tools it almost never a factor. I think you can toggle it off, but it’s something to be away of if you need to check continuity of a long fiber run.

Purchase this product to test existing 600ft fibers from end to end! before testing i used a 10ft pre maid fiber patch to understand readings and and calibrate my visual and understand what this device would produce! for me in terms of readings. i used a cheap light source to simulate a end device light source. Upon getting a better understanding of how this lil guy would read out light source i used it to test Filed Fibers resulting in a positive experience determining what fibers were damage and what was still in working conditions. This product is not a PRO level tool by any means but definitely delivers if the user is capable of understanding basic readings and has some idea of what to look for. used in commercial testing Applications several times - unfortunately two weeks later my bag containing this and other tools i purchase were stolen!! ughhhh i consider it a lost as it was good to me!!

This is a great little meter. I use it to shoot light from the FDA to locate the correct fiber at the terminal as well as a visual fault locator to find fiber breaks.... And the Light level readings have been accurate. After a month and a half of heavy use and some abuse it's held up well so great build quality.

Very good Optical power meter. It's range -70dBm to +6dBm. It's measured value is very good. No doubt must buy. And it's operate on 2 AAA batteries and which is provided in the box. You can also check RJ45 connection properly. Which's measuring kit also give in the box. I shared some product pic that you have an idea before buy.

Purchased this 2022, I use it everyday for my job, and up to till now 2025 still works great! Amazing!
