Kissing and hugging is fine but definitely not chewing and biting.

Does come with barking sound? Prefer it doesn't since I don't want to give it to my daughter during sleep and it wakes her up

It does bark, but you have to press a button in the middle. I don't think it ever barked while she slept on it- I think it would be hard to set off unless you were trying to. My 9 yo still sleeps with this 

how much bigger is the medium versus the baby gund spunky?

The medium spunky is about 2-3 times as large as the baby spunky. The medium size is a little big for a newborn but my kid started sleeping with his medium "dogbo" around 6mo old. He is 3 now, we are on the 3rd dog. They hold up really well, we just buy extras for daycare and grandmas house. He still has the original one!
