EXTREMELY LOUD. HEAR THEM RUNNING THROUGH TWO DOORS LOUD. DID I MENTION THEY ARE EXTREMELY LOUD?I have this set up on a terrarium, it fits a 12"x12" open top like it was made for it.10-12 hour light cycle runs just fine.It does get warm- I read about 110 degrees off the chip board. 100 degrees at top 3"-4" inches of the tank. My snake loves it, the curly leaf ivy not so much- cooked it dry in about a day. But the ground level plants are getting enough light and thriving.For $50 you can't really go wrong as long as you are aware of the shortcomings of this unit. One of these will realistically cover 1.5 feet x 1.5 feet. They do put out some heat but its not directional its more like the lamp is slightly warm but the room its in gets very warm.
