Shemagh Everyday Carry
I really enjoy my Shemagh. I live in CO, and the fall cold snap hasn't affected me in the slightest with this thing on. People are complaining about it not being super soft.. When it was designed (It is traditionally called a Keffiyeh), they didn't have stuff like 'Microfleece'. Regardless, It's a multi-purpose scarf/head wrap that you should carry or wear every day. These scarfs have almost unlimited uses. Here's a few examples:Dust Protection. Cover your face on motorcycles, truck beds, and tops of chicken buses.Sun Protection. Great for when you’re stranded in mid-day heat without shade nearby.Towel. Small, lightweight, fast drying, but thick enough get the job done. Perfect for the beach.Warmth. Wrap it around your neck as a scarf on the top of a mountain.Bag. Lay it out, put stuff in middle, tie four corners together. Instant hobo sack.Sarong. While shorter than a normal one, it can still be wrapped around your waist.Sweat Rag. Great for hiking, running, or other sweat-inducing activities.Arm Sling. Sprain a wrist or break an arm? Perfect for temporary immobilization.Emergency Bandage. Help stop bleeding and protect the wound until you get to a hospital.Pillow. Thick & soft enough to ball up and sleep with on bus rides or camping trips.Weapon. Twist a big rock up in the middle, and you have an instant self-defense tool!Concealment. Hide valuables on your personRope. Long enough to be rolled up to tie things together.Water Filter. Fold up multiple times and filter debris out of water before boiling.Keeping Cool. Soak in cold water and wrap around your neck.Signal Flag. Large enough to wave and get someone’s attention.Blanket. Good for covering your upper or lower body..Pot Holder. Take that boiling water you just filtered off the fire.Eye Mask. Sleep during the day or in a hostel when lights are on.

Get one! Or two! You get a shemagh and you get a shemagh! Everyone gets a shemagh!
Really cool pattern that was the same color I expected. It was a birthday gift and the recipient absolutely loved it. There was no foul smell to this one like others have reported. IMO the quality is better than what you should expect for the price, it is thin but they are supposed to be. Don't expect this to be a heavy winter scarf, that's not what they're designed for, although I wear mine plenty in the winter just as a buffer to the wind. Do not put these in the washer! Hand wash and hang dry only! Squeeze the water out without wringing it before you hang dry. It won't need washed often so take care to do it right when it does need it. Comes with a hundred and one uses, these are nice just to keep in your car or jacket pocket because you never know when you'll need a shemagh!

Mid-size Cotton Shemagh: good, but wash it before wearing.
PRO:- 42" x 42" is a medium size for a normal cotton shemagh. Some are bigger (50"x50"), but most 'cheap' ones are 38"x38" or so.- Made of cotton. This is the correct material, from my understanding. Polyester is common for 'cheap' shemaghs but performs differently.- Colors are nice and bright. You can find one to go with almost any outfit.- Dye doesn't run or bleed when washed. Some companies use junk dye which comes right back out and will stain your clothes. This one doesn't.- Looks awesome.- Versatile: can be tied as many ways as you can imagine. Works well for keeping warm in cold conditions as well as keeping cool in hot conditions.CON:- Smells weird. Not sure what it is. Smells like chemicals or plastic, likely from the dye or packaging. Smell immediately fades when washed.- Could be larger.Last comment: cotton absorbs moisture (duh). If you use this as a winter face cover, moisture from your breath may cause it to frost or freeze solid. Snow may collect on it and freeze in as well. No damage will be done but it might not be ideal for winter sports.

It fulfills it's role perfectly.
I will not vote this 1 star; and heres why. Many people complain about how this isn't the thickest material, and the weave is bad so it falls apart easier, compared to professional middle eastern shemaghs. And heres the thing; there 100% correct. The weave on this isn't good, and after very little use I can see the stitching already begin to come apart, and can tell it's begun to come apart. But it does exactly what it was advertised to do. The colors look great, and they do not fade. I got the product in prestine condition, with no rips or missing fabric. They wash and dry great, and don't need any special attention, which would be required for a "traditional" shemagh. This is a mass produced item made for those that would like to own a piece of culture, or a nice looking fashion accessory. This IS NOT a traditionally made Shemagh with the purpose of sheltering you from the weather of a middle eastern desert; and never once was I left with that impression before buying it.So again, yes this product has it's flaws. However, the price does not lie. This is not the best shemagh you can find; however it fulfills it's role perfectly. Do not be put off buying this item by reviewers that demand all items be perfect and traditional. This is not a $80 shemagh hand crafted by someone in Palestine. This item is exactly what it's supposed to be; And I recommend it to all.

Better than expected
I wanted to try this product because I needed a scarf that had the ability to protect my neck, chin, mouth, and nose from the winter wind. It does a fabulous job at those requirements, and has the benefit of added versatility. I'd highly recommend. As you might know, this is a triangle scarf. It comes as a square, which can be folded in half at the corners, making a triangle. There are virtually endless possibilities with this scarf. It isn't just for wrapping up your head and face shemagh-style. Most of the time, I wear this by wrapping it cowboy/robber style around my face. I then take the ends of the triangle, and wrap them around the back of my neck, tying them in the front. Then I pull the scarf down off of my nose, and keep it covering my mouth or chin. It's a very thin material, but you will be impressed by how warm it is. I walk my dog almost daily, and sometimes the weather changes part way through the walk. That's when having a convertible scarf comes in handy. I have used this during moderately heavy snow a few times already, and it was extremely warm all the way back home. I have used it as a blanket in the car, as a shawl in the house, and as a pillow on long trips. I can't wait to take this on a hiking trip. It's an extremely versatile piece of material, and I plan on buying more of these.

Excellent!!!
This shemagh is the best I have seen.I have bought several when I have come across them in stores. Usually it was Army Surplus type stores, and I don't remember the brands of all the different ones that I have purchased. For a variety of reasons, I have never like the ones that I have purchased in the past. One of the biggest issues I with other brands that I have purchased in the past is that the material has been too heavy. To feel it, you would not think it was too thick. But, my the time you roll it up, or wrap it as a scarf, they have been rather thick and heavy. Wearing them in warmer weather, they have almost been unbearable. It is almost like wrapping a towel around your head or neck. This shemagh is very lightweight, and yet very durable. When rolled, it is not overly bulky. Yet, I don't feel like it is too thin. It is just excellent the way is!! Thick enough to be durable, but thin enough to be used in many weather conditions. One other feature that I like about this shemagh, compared to others that I have seen, and is not mentioned in the product description is the corners. The edges have knots and then frayed material. Many are that way all the way around. If you lay it out flat on the floor, the corners are easy to locate, but when you are standing up and trying to fold the shemagh, finding the corners is not as easy as you would think. Many styles of wraps require you to find the corners and fold it in half.WIth this shemagh, the corners are longer, and braided, to make it easy to find them, and to distinguish them from the rest of the tassels all along the edge. It makes it really easy to find the corners, do your folds, and get it tied up correctly.I can't say enough good things about this shemagh. I took a gamble and ordered 4 of them, because of the different colors, and I will be ordering more.

NOT COTTON! But very nice anyway.
Very Nice, but NOT 100% COTTON! Put a flame to a tassel and you will see it melt, ball up, and drip molten material. Must be polyester or blend of synthetics. They advertise it as cotton, but the one I received was definately not. If that is not a concern for you, read on...This is a very solid material. It is slightly scratchy. Might be some wool, or goat hair, or camel hair in it, who knows? It does not come with a label for country of manufacture or materials. The scratchiness might go away after a couple washings. It is not exactly square, but nice and large, a full 44 inches not counting the tassels, which by the way are longer than tassels of some other shemaghs, and all four sides are tassled. Some other brands only have tassels on two sides. This Shemagh arrived properly packaged and it was clean and neat and did not have any foul odors or nasty stains. When I washed it, the color did not fade (Green and Black). I washed it by hand first, expecting the dyes to run, but they did not. After first use, I washed it in the the washing machine along with my towels, and still no fading can be seen. Here are some washing tips: I used one of those little zipper bags that my wife uses for delicate items, just to make sure it didn't get pulled apart in the washing machine. The open weave of these fabrics can get snagged on the machine or on zippers if you wash it with other items. Use cold water only. Don't put it in the dryer unless you want to tempt your fate with shrinkage. Just hang it up somewhere and let it dry. The fabric is thin, so they air dry pretty fast anyway. If you don't mind synthetic fibers, this Shemagh will do the job, and with that in mind I give it five stars.

Sadly middling...
I used this for about a week now, and its light weight, breathable and looks good. It's soft and not at all scratchy or stiff, and while I can't speak to its seemingly amazing ability to repel sunshine and dramatically lower the temperature by 15 degrees (I'm wearing in the cold north eastern winter) I can say it keeps my ears, head, and neck warm.As you can see from the (iphone quality) pictures I've uploaded, the color's aren't as vibrant as they appear on the website and the quality is rather disappointing. On the one hand that shows that the decoration isn't "painted" on. On the other...poor craftmans shift and quality control. As far as the first issue goes, that's on me. I should have figured that in anything less than perfect lighting the colors were going to be muted and gone with the white and black rather than the gray and black product I did.As for the second, after less than a week, I've already got threads coming loose, fuzzies coming off the black, tassels splitting and I haven't even done anything high-speed with it. Just worn it to the jeep, from the jeep to work and back again. One other note, this one was slightly smaller than the others I've worn in the past, which for most people isn't going to be an issue, but if you have a ginormous head like I do, it makes the fitting look less than stylish. That said, it doesn't impact functionality at all.

Beautiful!
I ordered the light blue & white keffiyeh, and it arrived very quickly. It's lovely. The colors are perfect, the fabric is just the right weight, and its tassels make it even prettier. Plan to wear this to support Palestine.
