You should try the filter for three days, then take a water sample and send it to the lab to see how many contaminants are left. **Q: Does the filter work when upside down** A: This is not a gravity filter. This filter works by water pressure forcing it through various chambers inside , I’m sure it will work even if its installed at any angle. That being said I won’t recommend this , ive had it for just about 6 months now and every time I use it rusty brown water comes out then clears , EVERY TIME . I complained to the company, the customer service rep says the same thing occurs in the one that she has in her own house. Clearly, they work well or I wouldn't keep buying them. With the well, I changed them out every 6 months. Now on this hard city water, I need to change them out every 4 months. I believe it's because the water is so much harder than our well water was. When we moved to the city, w e took our filter and had an extra one, so they were the ones I usually bought, and they worked just like on the well water.. I mention this because if I hadn't had this experience if their lasting 6 months, I'd wonder about the quality of the product since they say they last 6 months. I would give 5 stars because this filter really works. My hair is a rat's nest on this hard city water, weighed down, looks greasy, gets smelly-dirty extremely fast, just gross. My skin is itchy...all that goes away with this filter. It's really a good product. However... I used to buy them in pairs, but the last purchase, the second one leaked. Read the one-star reviews, and I had a similar experience with filter #2, which I could not return because it was 4-5 months after my purchase. First the thing leaked and trickled water, then very soon began spurting water, and we went through that filter in a matter of a few months. Since then I only buy one at a time. I didn't contact cs for a replacement, so I don' know how that would have gone, but the 2025 1-star reviews don't look encouraging, so I continue to buy one at a time. Just in case. Beware!
