Odie's Oil

Although it at seem pricy, a little truly goes a long way! Enhances natural wood chatoyance in less time and with less effort than many other finishes. It’s safe and easy. Notes to keep in mind: 1. Follow the application directions precisely! Do not deviate! 2. I found that I had to ensure the application pad was well saturated before really getting the “a little goes a long way” 3. The higher you sand, the more you will have to buff it in to ensure proper saturation. I was able to get 400, 600, & 1k sand to soak it up but it took more elbow grease as I went up. 4. Using the butter then wax after this truly does produce visual results. Using as a stand alone produces a satin finish. 5. This has a shelf life and begins upon introducing to air. Bloxgyen will prolong this. 6. Has the most dramatic effect on darker woods. It doesn’t darken up lighter woods too much but it brings out the grain well. It REALLY makes end grain pop. (See finger joints). Woods applied to: Teak, Oak, Mahogany, Padauk, Walnut, Maple, Keraki, Sakura All in all, I’m satisfied with my purchase, will be buying the Dark next, & recommend if your looking for an easy good looking finish. ***UPDATE*** It’s been over 6 months since initial application. Durability has held up against water and humidity. Water beads and wipes easily with no stains. The shade of woods like teal and walnut has darkened. Maple has yellowed. I have since applied to a new desk project of walnut and keyaki.

Good quality oil. Used it for some teak side tables I installed on a grill. Gave it a nice deep and rich look. It doesn't take much of this stuff, so if it seems expensive, it does go a long way.

I’ve tried other hard wax oils (like Rubio and Natura) but I’ve been Odie’s curious for a while so I gave it a shot. I’ve used it in a few projects and the results have been great. I really like that there is no 2-part mixing and that it’s safe to get on your hands. (Though I can tell you that it dries pretty sticky on your skin so I do wear gloves) Application is a breeze with a white scuff pad, then leave it for 30 minutes and wipe off any excess. In my experience, it’s been safe to handle the next morning. It says to give it a few weeks to fully cure before exposing to moisture but my projects don’t really get wet so I don’t have experience there. Two usage notes: the product doesn’t have much of a sheen, it’s similar to using a satin poly or lacquer. I’ll probably try some Odie’s wax in the future to give it more luster. Pictured is the result of using this on hard maple, like most products it gives the wood a slight amber tint. Overall, I’m really happy with the product and plan to continue using it. It’s not cheap but it looks like a $55 jar could last me a year or more.

It's been a few months now since applying the product, and I think its doing its job and protecting the wood bar top as described!!

I bought this years ago to finish a project in natural shine. The wood didn't look good with it so it has been sitting. Yesterday, I was getting ready to use it on a cutting board because it says it's food safe and noticed it says restores finishes. I had just been looking at finish restorers for my cabinets which looked terrible. So, what the heck. Why not rub on some of this and see? WOW. Look at the before and after photos! It may not be as striking in the photos as it is in real life but it is so much better! The cabinets are even color, shine beautifully and we're finished in no time. I just wiped it on and wiped it off. It was a thick application because they were bad so I had to wipe extra off but it was easy . They are a little tacky 24 hours later but I attribute that to a heavy use. I am doing all the cabinets just for preventive maintenance. It may seem like an expensive fix but it is way cheaper than replacing or sanding and refinishing. And this stuff goes a long way. I still have 2/3 of a jar. I will have to wait and see how long it lasts. I am so pleased with how much better they look.

easy to use! I put two coats of Odies oil on a river table. It was easy to apply. I followed the directions pretty carefully and buffed my heart out. The outcome was ok but not what I hoped for. The wood was walnut and while Odies highlighted the grain it did not have the depth I've achieved with Osmo and with General Finishes hard wax oil. After 24 hours I applied a coat of paste wax to give the project a little shine but it did not help. The product is good but I was hoping for more.

FINALLY!! After using several different products on my butcher block countertop, Odies is the only one that actually finished it!! I tried mineral oil, that was a mess and didn't last a month, I tried a few popular oil/beeswax blends, that didn't last more than a couple weeks either, and it did allow mold to grow under it. It took me quite a long time to sand that down enough to bleach out the mold/mildew stains. At that point I was just completely disappointed and felt I had made a mistake getting butcher block. I really didn't want to use one of those varnish type finishes due to my heating vent being directly over the counter, and having a dog. I didn't want a countertop with dog hair stuck in the finish. My last ditch effort after completely sanding down the countertop was to use Odies Oil. I personally don't care for the smell, but it dissipated in about 2 hours. It's easy to use, but you do need to put some elbow grease into it. Worth the effort! I followed the directions carefully and was rewarded with a beautiful finish that still looks today, just like it was the day I applied it about 6 weeks ago. Pic 1 was the night I finished applying Odies. Pic 2 and Pic 3 are today, Water still beads up! It really does harden up with time. It leaves a nice sheen and let's the beauty of the wood shine thru. It doesn't change the color much either. I hope it darkens with time to match my cabinets better. I figure with continued use of my countertop, I may have to re-apply a coat of Odies, but I'm fine with that. There was plenty left over after 2 coats. I used less than 1/4 of the jar. Great product!

This is a great product and a little goes a long way making it worth the price you pay. 'Universal' is exactly what this provides, while I mainly use this on wood products you can wax your car with it! I highly recommend going to their website to get more information, but I've used this on leather boots and jackets and even works on my windshield like rain-x. This does a great job sealing wood charcuterie boards and won't dry out like mineral oil or other brands will. It's derived from tung oil and provides long lasting coverage, and you only use a very little bit making this little jar go a long way.

LOVE this stuff for its ease of use and oh my..it smells yummy ! Lemon Sherbert ! While I initially thought the price of it was up there. A little of it goes a long way. I use it over v carved and laser engraved signs and trays. No harsh chemical smell like I previously mentioned . It's given my creations a durable and beautiful finish .
