Have used many of these in the past. They’re pretty reliable. With the increasing price of solid state memory these have been inching up as well. Using it as a Time Machine drive on a Mac. Working flawlessly.

This drive worked fine for a year, then we added more photos to it, nothing different than before, and the drive wont work anymore. Nothing was wrong with the pictures themselves, and we tried taking all the images off the drive, wiping it, and then loading some on again and it still wont work. Strongly suggest you dont buy this.

Small, slim, easy to store, easy to install, the software does everything for you, the security is strong just don’t forget your password or you’ll have to wipe your drive but that’s what makes it so secure and (for under $100 can’t beat that), it works super fast, I have a MegaX it doesn’t hold a candle to it, and this had two terabytes and the range of colors are great as well, making this well worth the money.

This is the perfect external hard drive. Compact for easy portability and plenty of storage. It will take a while for me to fill this one up. The blue is an extra nice touch to distinguish my hard drive from others.

Works great and program to back up whole computer is quick!

I own a number of these, have used them for years without any problems, but this time nothing but problems. I got the 2TB to back up a new W10 desktop. First it took many attempts and reboots before the Passport was recognized. I downloaded the latest backup software from WD website. The first backup tries failed; when it finally started a backup, it kept going for over 24 hrs to backup about 1.5TB. I knew something was wrong, but figured I'd let it run overnight to see it if came to a natural end, and if I’d get any enlightening error messages. No messages, BUT it backed up only primary files and not the file contents. Subsequent backup attempts all failed. Tried to delete the files to start over, but it wouldn't let me. Tried to reformat with Windows Disk Management; that seemed to start, but then got message that it failed, and subsequent attempts said it was not possible. Now it will not let me do anything. It shows up as a device, but not as a storage device. Only with Properties does it show the total capacity - unused. I tried it on my old computer with which I've used a number of Passports over the years. It recognized it, and asked if I wanted to scan it for errors, which I did. That eventually froze, with a large amt of Windows Explorer tied up with it. I've tried repeatedly to format, but can't do it, and I can't access it. I hear a nose now and then that sounds like metal scraping, which I've never heard with a portable hard drive before. I don't know if it was there from the start. Before buying I read many reviews and questions regarding use with W10. I saw some saying it was not recognized, but other than that, I saw many saying there were no issues. I experienced and learned from the often dreadful days of early home computers --- haven’t we gotten past this stuff yet! I’m so frustrated. I am I wrong to have concluded that this is a plug and play hard drive when used on W10? Now it is an expensive paperweight. And I still have no backup of my computer.

Our IT person has us switch out our drives regularly and she is the one who picked these out. They come in a variety of colors which is fun though unnecessary. They work well and seem durable. They’re thick and appears as if dropped, they would survive. Our files upload quickly and easily.

Great product, fits well and works as expected. Quality is top notch.
