How can this product stay affixed to aluminum as the description claims, when aluminum is not magnetic?

Hi, Thank you for letting us know our description is wrong, and we are working on correcting that. This model of OmniShelf only has Magnets as attachments, we do have another model of the OmniShelf, OS02, that has suction cups & magnets to attach to almost any surface. The suction cups will attach to Aluminum.

Can you take this on a plane in checked baggage

Good morning. Yes you can. I take mine all the time. I stick mine either in my suitcase or in a large duffle bag. I have a customer that takes it as a carry on.

What angle is the shelf suppose to be at?? Mine came and its less than 90 for sure. Hard to set anything but a laptop on it reliably due to the tilt..

I ordered 2 and both were a little less than 90. Annoying but got I got over it.

Do the magnets effect the hard drive? Mechanical or solid state?

No. The two neodymium magnets that move the heads in a HDD are far stronger than these ceramic magnets and are of course much closer to the data platters, if that helps for reference. However, for a product like this I would strongly recommend switching to SSD rather than a spinner, since they are not so susceptible to damage or data loss from bumps and drops.
