Portability and Practicality -
Update 7/1/23:Very happy with the Omnishelf! Raising my review to 5 stars after using it daily. I love how compact this is in the field as it allows me to eliminate carrying a small foldable table for my laptop. To give this shelf additional functionality, I designed some 3D printed accessories that clip directly to the Omnishelf and fit inside the case when transporting:• Mutlpurpose drink holder that also serves as a multimeter or ammeter holster• Mouse pad shelfCheck for these accessories on Etsy if you are interested. I have a few other 3D designs I may incorporate as well to add more functionality to the shelf.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I priced out components to make a custom version and the price of materials came close to the price of the Omnishelf. I didn’t factor in my labor, but I could see it would take some time to implement my ideas so I opted for the price of entry. This shelf is robust and grips great with the magnets. I haven’t tested the suction cups yet, but I keep them on me in case I need in field. I have some additional ideas and modifications that I will create with a 3D Printer that will help make this the Ultimate portable shelf. Only negative is the price of the shelf as I feel this should be cheaper for what it is. You’ll see there are other reviews stating the same.

Laptop Shelf for programming in a plant.
This shelf works well and the magnets are strong. The only issue that I have is that the lip around the edge interferes with the power cable on my (large) laptop. I plan to file a small indention to accommodate this slight inconvenience.

Handy, but not cheap!
Decent quality. But, magnets offer no protection against scratching the surface to which it is attached. Included with the device is a full page of disclaimers that relieves the manufacturer of all liability and really takes the shine off the product. The resultant horizontal surface (the work surface for your laptop) isn't really flat... slanting back about 10 degrees or so. Not a big deal. Having said all that good stuff about this product, the long list of disclaimers, the quality of construction and the materials required to construct it make me feel like the manufacturer is a little too proud of what they sell. Might not buy again.

1.5 year review
I've had the case a year and a half and am very happy with it.The bad - (1) Expensive. (2) Had a magnet come out of the metal cup and stayed stuck to the metal door I mounted the workstation to (after 1 year of use). Adding super glue to the magnets in their metal cups kept them in their mounts. (3) Laptop bounces around when it is the only thing in the case and could benefit from additional padding. For the money, you would expect additional foam to be provided. I keep 2 composition notebooks in the case with the laptop and that keeps the laptop from flopping around. The notebooks also provide my laptop with the clearance it needs to access my USB and Ethernet ports without the cables resting on the sidewall of the workstation. The good - (1) Case is sturdy. (2) Magnets are very strong. I am able to put more weight on it than I expected without slipping. A deliberate jerk is required to unmount the workstation. (3) Ease of use/looks professional. Customers compliment the workstation frequently for how ergonomic it makes my work area while using a laptop.Overall - I can depend on this to make my work environment neater and more comfortable when using a laptop is required in an industrial setting. Stowing a couple composition notebooks inside provides a tighter fit for my laptop.Improvements - Shipping the workstation with additional padding would be an improvement to the value. If the bottom tray was shallower and the top tray was deeper then I would have less stress on my USB and Ethernet ports when connected while maintaining stowable space. Even if they just cut lower on the sides, that would be the biggest improvement for me.

Worth the money!!!!
I was working on a job site and one of the contractors I was working with had one and I was impressed with it.I had to get one!!!And I am glad I did! This shelf is awesome!!!The magnets are strong and hold great.I have put this three the paces, I’ve had a lot of tools on this shelf and I was impressed with how well it held up.Holds my laptop and gives me a solid work station when I need it in areas that don’t have a place for me to set my laptop.Highly recommended!!!!Just buy it if you’re thinking about it!!!

Good overall with some hangups.
Well made and easy to use. Magnetic hold is rock-solid. Light weight. Competitive price. Magnetic tool-holders are a great plus. However, back-magnets (3) should have rubber protectors to avoid scratching your customer's panels--yikes! Also the laptop surface is a bit too depressed making laptop cabling/connections difficult and damage-prone.

Very Sturdy
First opened the box I could tell it was sturdy and well built. Magnets that hold the box closed are strong. Placed it on a cabinet and it stuck with no movement. No sliding when I put some of my weight on it. Laptop, meter, and some other tools fit on the shelf and I don’t worry about it falling. Instead of setting laptop on the ground or my other tools, now the can rest there out of the way of my work area. Already broke two laptop screens this year with the areas I have to work around. Never had a very stable shelf or place to put laptop, which is required for most mechanical jobs now a days. Had a question about the design and contacted the designer of Omni shelf. He returned my email quickly and gave me the answer to my questions. Showed this to other techs in power generation industry and diesel technicians. All have seen how valuable it can be for field technicians.
