how can i tell if i am getting a 2015 model vs a 2014 or 2013 model?

James, Samsung's lettering on models lets you know what year model you are purchasing. All the Samsung TV's for 2015 have a letter J after the size. For example, UN50J-U7100. The J signfies 2015. Last year's models had the letter H.

Is this TV HDR capable?

This tv support hdr cause is 10bit panel and after the last software update supports hdr 100%!!! If you want to unable the hdr on the hdmi you have have to turn the uhd color on from the picture menu and the hdr is on!
