Feature-packed bag designed to hold more than it looks like at first glance
My bag arrived very quickly, surprisingly on a Sunday! I spent considerable time researching the bag I wanted for my upcoming trip to Europe. It was hard for me to shop online and not be able to see in person the size of the bag. I carry a Miche demi purse (medium sized) for my everyday bag and I wanted something a little roomier for the trip. This bag is about the same size, maybe a little smaller than that. It's a bit deeper and narrower with a more constricting opening to the main compartment, but I'm hoping the outside compartments and organization pockets will help make up for the smaller sized main compartment. The fabric is nice, looks easy to clean, and less "luggage like" than I thought. I have the black one, and I can see myself taking this anywhere but the most formal occasions. It appeared in the photos that the front zipper compartment did not have a locking feature, however, when I received this purse, all three zipper toggles (the two from the smaller front compartment and the one from the top main compartment all locked into the same toggle together. The zipper toggles are not centered, but they do lock, which is a nice feature. The rear zipper does not lock. I like the long adjustable strap that allows it to sit comfortably on the front of my hip which is what I wanted. I was worried that there weren't enough little pockets/ pen loops inside so I also ordered the Travelon purse organizer. I like it a lot, but it makes the inside of this bag seem very full so I will probably just use it with my everyday purse and not take it on the trip. I think I can get by with the compartments in this bucket bag. I'll just need a small change purse or wallet, which I usually don't carry. The bottle pockets fit a standard 16 oz water bottle snugly. I'm glad because I was worried they might want to slip out with the tilted angle I saw in the photos. This bag should hold my daily essentials, which include water bottle for me and my husband, small wallet, ID, phone, journal, maps, pen, lipstick, sunglasses case, and still have room for a light cardigan. I know I will need to cover my shoulders to enter the churches in Italy in August so I was hoping to have room to pack a light cover and maybe a light maxi skirt to throw over my shorts. If I roll them up boy scout style, I think it will work, but it will be a full bag. I don't expect to have any additional space for souvenirs, so I may just pack along my very lightweight collapsible bag that folds up to be about the size of a travel tissue pack. Then I can spill over if I acquire additional items to carry without having to carry a larger bag the whole time. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Although I thought I would use this exclusively as a travel bag, I think it may end up becoming my everyday bag when we get home. The security features are what convinced me to purchase Travelon for European travel, but they are a nice bonus for everyday too.

LOVE THIS BAG! On my second one!
I truly love this bag! One of the zippers broke on my first one--not because of poor quality, but because I snagged it on something (totally my fault). So, I got a new one just like the first one, and sold the first one at a garage sale. The two water bottle holders on the outside are great, and one can even be used for a small umbrella. The built-in security features (cable in strap and RFID protection) are perfect for travel, and I like the lightweight fabric and clip-locks on the main zipper compartments. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Love this bag
I bought the purple bag for a trip to Italy and loved using it. it is a very dark purple, and had room for water bottles on each end, multiple internal and external pockets for organization, and secure zippers and straps. I mostly wore it cross-body, but it could be adjusted for over the shoulder as well. It had plenty of storage but was not bulky. I learned after a rain shower that it is not water proof, but used a plastic bag inside it on rainy days.

Has the most pockets on a Travelon bag.
I spent hours online searching for a decent anti-theft bag for travel (I looked at eBags, PacSafe, and Baggallini) and settled for this Travelon bucket bag. Why? 1) I am 5'1" and most of the travel backpacks, though extremely practical, are too big for me. 2) It is reasonably priced, and I got an even better deal through the Amazon warehouse PLUS my Amazon store credits. After all the discounts, I paid only $28 for mine. 3) It is big enough to fit my Nikon 5400 DSLR with a mid-range lens. This was one of its selling points for me, although we ended up sticking the camera into my husband's backpack during travel. 4) It was important for me that the bag has many pockets, and this one delivers! It has two front pockets, one of which has a lockable zipper, a back pocket for my phone, and two adjustable side pockets. The main compartment has an inner zipped pocket and multiple credit card slots (which I used for train tickets). 5) It can be worn as a crossbody or a shoulder bag. Because I'm short, even with the strap at its shortest, I can still use the bag as a crossbody. Although the bag met many of my requirements, I dock a star from my ratings because: 1) The bag isn't as deep as advertised. It is about half an inch less of the advertised depth. And I really needed that measly extra half inch depth. 2) I don't like the way the strap is designed. One end is stitched into the bag, and the other end has a hook. This makes the strap twist when I adjust it from shoulder bag to crossbody, and it's hard to make it lay flat against my back. 3) The advertised photo shows the bag in an upright position. Umm, no. It is not as structured as pictured. Because it is made of nylon and polyester, the bag is slouchy and does not stand upright on its own. Fortunately, I have an old purse insert that fits perfectly into the bag (and gives me even more pockets), and that helped me keep everything structured and organized. 4) The side pockets cannot hold my Phillips filtered water bottle even with the zippers fully open. They can hold a Kirkland water bottle, though it is still a tight fit. They can hold a compact Totes umbrella though. Since we had a backpack that held the umbrella and water bottles nicely, I used one side pocket for tissues and hand sanitizer, and the other for a selfie stick. I am still happy with this bag despite its flaws. I dropped it at an outdoor cafe in Versailles with my smaller bridge camera and iPhone in it. My camera and phone were undamaged. The bag's material, which isn't thoroughly smooth, held onto some grains of sand and dirt even after we brushed it with our hands and some paper napkins. But we later got to clean it off at the hotel with a soft shoe brush we travel with in our shoe bags. I don't know how long this bag will last me, but as far as our trip went, it held up very well with all my zipping and unzipping during a regular day. I believe this is the best bang for your buck, as far as Travelon bags go, with its relatively good Goldilocks size, multiple pockets, and anti-theft features. I'm looking to buy another one (a more fun color this time) for playing tourist in my own city. ETA, 3.28.2025: I have taken this bag to more places in Europe, from many points in the Andalusia region in Spain, back to Paris, and through Belgium all the way to Amsterdam. The bag is STILL whole, no broken stitches or parts. My most favorite thing about it are the locking zippers — truly peace of mind when I am visiting a site, and someone says on a loudspeaker, “Watch out for pickpockets.” This is a medium-sized bag for my small body, but I can wear it beneath a coat. This is now my official Europe travel bag, and I don’t use it for anything else but that. My Asia travel set-up is different because of the long layovers, but for Europe, this is just perfect.

Very nice multi-purpose bag: Can be used as a camera bag and a purse
I've been looking for a travel bag that could hold my full-frame digital mirrorless camera with 24-105 lens, several small camera accessories (battery, UV lens), several personal items, plus a water bottle on the outside. Additionally, I wanted something that was lightweight, crossbody and wouldn't be overwhelming while walking distances on uneven surfaces with a group of tourists. Everything I saw online was either too large or too small and priced between $90 - $150 with either too many or too few features. I saw the same Travelon bag on Macy's site for $125; I paid $38!!! As an FYI to anyone looking for added camera protection, I added a 1" covered-foam liner to the bottom of the bag that works well. What I liked about this bag (besides the price): 1) It can be placed flattened in a suitcase, but expands to fit all the above-described camera equipment, personal items, and then some; 2) The strap is thick and sturdy; comfortable on the neck, adjustable, slash-proof for travel, and fits comfortably as a crossbody bag; 3) The side water bottle slots can be zipped shut when not in use but they expand to hold a bottle on each side, or a bottle on one side and an umbrella or similar item on the other; 4) The zippers move easily and the fabric of the bag is sturdy and well-sewn; 5) Either zippered external compartment can hold a cell phone; and, 6) All the anti-theft features. I purchased the nutmeg bag. The color is exactly as depicted in the Amazon site photograph. Great quality bag.

Great bag for traveling!
I have a couple of these Travelon bags, in different sizes. I got them because I had two vacations clmkng up this year - one domestic and one overseas. I took this bag in my luggage on my overseas trip, while I used a smaller bag on the plane. Once I got to my destination, this was my daily bag, large enough for my painting aupplies, if needed, and a waterbottle, with locking sections for my personal ID, money, passport, etc. I was particularly pleased with the length of the strap as I am rather fluffy and wanted to be able to use it as cross-body bag. While we were mostly based at a single secure venue, we did have a couple of tours that took us into towns and I was confident of the bag’s secure zippers, reinforced strap and bottom to keep my belonging safe. It was comfortable to carry, even weighed downwith water bottle and other paraphernalia. Some reciews I eead before purchasing it said the top was narrow which made it difficult to use. Yes, it is narrower than the rest of the bag - it is something of a security feature, I believe. I really had no trouble with it. It does have two side zipper mesh pockets for water bottle or small umbrella. I used one side for water and the other side to hold my clip on sunglasses case from dangling while I walked. For my phone, I have it on a lanyard and looped it through the bag’s strap then tucked the phone in the easy-reach open back pocket of the bag. It was against my body so my phone was doubly secured. Purple is my color and it is a beautiful rich purple! I definitely recommend it.

A must for travellers!
Updated April 8, 2017: I just returned from a week in London, and this bag is still my favorite travel bag! It's the only thing I carried on the plane (I prefer to check my luggage and have one small carry on--this purse). I'm a mom with two teenagers, so when we arrived in London, I carried bus bases, passports, an umbrella, a water bottle, a guidebook, my RFID wallet, asprin, my cell phone, a few cosmetic items, and this bag can handle it all! On and off the tube, in and out of cabs, on the bus, on walking tours, on countless steps at the Tower of London. The strap is wide, so my neck never got sore. Since it's a crossbody bag, my hands were free to hold maps, kids, coats, souvenirs, etc. I still love this bag. No issues with a tears or rips or faulty zippers. I highly recommend it! Original review from Dec 2016: I just returned from a trip where I visited 3 countries in 8 days. This bag was outstanding. It was rainy and cold, so the bag worked great at staying waterproof. I had room for everything I needed to include a small folding umbrella, water bottle which I kept inside the bag, gloves, a knit hat and scarf, a zip pouch with cosmetics, and the usual gum, Chapstick, Kleenex, cell phone, and a small digital camera. I had no issues getting into the bag, and no issues with tearing or fraying. I used an IDEAWIN travel wallet and passport holder (also from Amazon) which fit PERFECTLY into the zippered compartment in the back of the Travelon bag. I didn't use the two bottle pockets in the sides of the Travelon bag, so I can't say how those worked. This bag fit me comfortably and gave me hands-free mobility, and easy access to anything I needed while on walking tours. I would purchase this bag again and highly recommend it. Because it was black, it was inconspicuous. It's not very dressy, just very practical and utilitarian, but I felt like it looked nice, not like a sloppy messenger bag.

Really enjoyed BUT a short life
PROS: I really like this travel crossbody bag, and have used it almost daily. I even purchased a second one in black, which I use much less often, only because of color preference, and not liking to switch purses often. I love the many various sized compartments which helps me organize my belongings well. It has traveled globally with me, and carries so much more than it appears it would. Strong fabric outside, and, mostly, internally as well. I'm not into designer bags, so this is somewhat attractive as a daily bag and very functional. Suits me. CONS: The internal middle compartment is largest, and only after 2 years, the lining fabric has torn along its seam with lots of stringy strands. Only area of fabric that has not held up well. I do wish the front pocket zipper was more versatile, and didnt solely zip left to right. For me, a middle top zipper closure end point would be much more useful. The strap loosens over time, although it has a metal stop to secure the length, but doesnt maintain the strap length well. So I have to readjust that at times. I wish it would have lasted longer than 2 years though. It's a shame I will need to buy an entire new bag for the small area of worn and torn fabric of the zippered pouch within the main compartment.

Excellent travel handbag
I did lots of research to find an anti-theft travel handbag and finally chose this one. Tried out for a few days before testing on holiday but so far so good. Lovely colour (green) and large capacity with space and compartments for my essentials: sunglasses, Kindle, phone, cosmetics, sun hat, tissues etc. Zipped side pockets are great and hold my chubby water bottle plus mini umbrella but neatly close away when not needed. Some bags with side pockets didn’t look so supportive but this is excellent. Comfortable shoulder strap which adjusts to preferred length for shoulder bag or crossbody A bit fiddly but probably because of the extra strength. I won’t reiterate the safety features as they were listed clearly and swayed me to buy. A reasonable price for all the features when compared with other brands. Hoping it lasts well but initially I’m delighted with it. Some lighter colour options would be good for summer travels. We don’t always want black/navy which were common options amongst travel handbags.

Great travel purse
I just bought and used this purse on my recent trip overseas. This purse is both stylish and secure and has lots of room to carry things around. I also like that it has a spot for water bottles, which I usually find annoying to carry by hand. I felt safe walking around with this purse in areas known for pick-pocketing. The safety latch on the purse is also quick and easy to use so you're not fiddling around trying to unzip your purse every time you want to take something out. This purse is definitely worth the price, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a secure purse for travelling.

Very good value
This bag arrived very quickly, even though it came from the US. It seems very sturdily made, holds a ton of stuff and the additional side pockets are very unobtrusive, whether open or closed (with a zip). I particularly like the colour, which means that it can be used all year round. The discount on the full price was very good too!
