Great reference for all those questions!
We bought this book for our youngest granddaughter, who is almost two years old. It's a little bit too old for her yet, but it's a wonderful resource to have on hand, so we'll know exactly how to answer her questions when she starts asking them! The pages are filled with bright, colorful photographs and simple, clear explanations for common questions that young children ask about the world around them. It also includes fun little activities and crafts scattered throughout the chapters. It's a beautiful, high-quality book that will be perfect to grow into as she transitions from a toddler into the preschool years.

Great for our curious 5 year old
We have a 5 year old in our house that loves asking “why” and this book is great for his curious mind! He loves the pictures and fun information. It’s very age appropriate for him. The “why” questions and explanations are easy for him to understand.

Awesome book for a curious child
Our 4 year old loves this book. This is perfect for that preschool stage of asking lots of questions, even for questions you didn't know you had. It breaks it down to simple terms and there are fun activities in there that you can try with you kid. He often asks to read this during our reading time, and we often do multiple pages. It has a good variety of questions about the human body, animals, the world, and others, so you can switch it up based on your mood and preferences. HIGHLY recommended for the curious child!

Fun book for kid that loves to learn and figure out why things are the way they are
I got this for my nine-year-old‘s birthday as he is starting to love to read, and he totally loves to learn. This has child appropriate, explanations for lots of different fun facts about science, the world, people, foods and others such interesting topics. We have fun looking at it together, and I’ve caught him checking out some of the pages on his own. It would probably be appropriate for kids who are about six if they’re good readers or 7 to 10.

Love it, but...
Overall, they do a good job with these books, and for sure you get a lot of full color pages with a lot of reading content. There is no way I would want to ready this all to my son in one sitting, but these are neat books when you learn how to use them right. What I do is lightly skim through the pages until my son or I notice something that might be curious for him to learn about in particular. This book has a scientific quality to it that can be just a touch visceral for my 3yo, at times, but as much as I cringe wondering if he is ready to know about all the slimey crawly weird little scientific things in this world, it seems to pour usable information into his brain. I think what impresses me the most with this book is how wide they cast the net in terms of the appropriate age. I mean, this should be over my son's head ay 3yo, but it is not, and yet I could honestly picture him learning things from this book for many years, as concepts gain clarity in his mind to help other things make sense, etc.

Fun for curious kids and parents
I bought National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Why for my kid because they’re constantly asking questions about everything, and this book has honestly been really cute and useful. It covers things like animals, space, weather, the body, and random everyday “why” questions kids come up with. The pictures are colorful and keep their attention, and the answers are easy for little kids to understand without being too baby-ish. We’ve read through parts of it so many times already and my child still keeps going back to it on their own. It’s one of those books that actually keeps them interested while they’re learning something. Definitely a good buy for curious kids.
