Ian Gillan & Tony Iommi - 'Who Cares?' (Ear Music) 2-CD
Review no. 65. I've had this 2-CD piece on my want-list for awhile now. Collection of rarities, collaborations, forgotten audio gems, unreleased tracks, etc. Disc one gives us loyal fans and followers "Zero The Hero" and "Trashed" off Sabbath's 'Born Again' lp, "Slip Away" (with Glen Hughes), "Easy Come, Easy Go" and the awesome and a Deep Purple version of "Smoke On The Water" with Ronnie Jame Dio on vocals. Disc two features the rocking Sabbath song "Anno Mundi" (off their 'Tyr' CD with strong vocals provided by Tony Martin), the ass-kicking "Let It Down Easy" (with Iommi and Glen Hughes), Gillan crooning to a (sort of) lounge song "Can't Believe You Wanna Leave Me", Gillan lending his vocal chords to a Motown classic "Can I Get A Witness" (Ian absolutely nails it! In fact, this is one my personal favorites on the entire 2-CD) and somewhat jamming "Dick Pimple". Comes with irreplaceable sixteen-page CD booklet with details on each track. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Collaboration of "The Gods"
When Certain People get together, you KNOW it will Always be Good. What Started out as a 2 song benefit raiser for the Funding of a Music School in Armenia, blossomed into a Wonderful Excuse to put together a Compilation of RARE, INTERESTING, UNRELEASED, B-SIDES & LIVE Gems.. First off, the 2 "NEW SONGS": "Out of my mind" & "Holy water".. BRILLIANT! To hear Tony Riffing with Jason Newsted on Bass, is MONSTEROUS! And then there's Nicko McBrain doing his best "Vinnie Appice" impression! Also, a couple of Lovely choices of Beautiful tracks from "The Past" that are very much Deserving of another airing into the Ether, in the Form of "ANNO MUNDI" from the Always-Overlooked 'SABBATH Period with Tony Martin on Vocals. "ZERO THE HERO" from the Born Again album. "Don't hold me back" (1 of My all time FAV Gillan songs) from "Toolbox" is Tastefully included. A couple of UN-issued tracks with GLENN HUGHES, Glenn & Tony are ALWAYS Magic! PLUS..a few rather Interestng pieces are also hear, from some GILLAN side-projects with weird & wonderful Names, that have Many different flavours to offer. There's 1 track that would even sit comfortably along side STING's "Desert rose"! All up, this is a FANTASIC Collage that gells nicely together, even IF most of the songs have different Productions on them. THIS Album, i'm sure will end up a "Collectors treasure". One last piece of Beauty to mention, is the SMILE that will creep across your Face, when you hear the LATE-GREAT Ronnie James Dio singing SMOKE ON THE WATER with 'PURPLE & an Orchestra. Enjoy!!

Good pick up
Anyone who is a fan of Deep Purple or Back Sabbath and/or the album BORN AGAIN, probably the most under appreciated Sabbath release will most definatley enjoy this collaboration. Not only was it done for a good cause but it features other great icons of that Gillian and Iommi time such as Nikko McBrain and Jason Newsed, just to name a few. Gillian does not have the pipes he used to as you can see on the songs that were re-recorded but it still brings back great memory and is produced well. You also get a lot of raw unreleased music, most notably the last track which is basically just a blues jam session taken from some remote venue early in their careers.******One of the best features of this purchases is the paragraph or 2 that is laid out explaining what was going on in their lives at that time and how many of these classics came to be. a la TRASHED.One can only wonder what more creative genius could have been createdif these two masterminds were able to sustain a better relationship in their prime

Highly Recommended for Iommi/Gillan fans
With just about everything Iommi and or Gillan produced over the decades, I had to add the Who Cares tunes to the collection. After watching the video that they put out on Metal Undergound back in 2011, I've been keeping an eye out for a release. This has a lot of music I already own from different studio albums, but there are several previously unreleased cuts, including the two from Who Cares. Those alone make it worth the purchase. Although I loved Born Again (unlike many, I suppose) the Who Cares sound is highly polished and is almost impossible to reconcile with that 30 year old Black Sabbath release. Put on the headphones, crank it up and try not to dwell on the fact that it's two old dudes kickin' ass...or maybe do.

Classic Hard-Rock and Metal
I love this album!! It has a little of everthing and a lot of Gillan!! I love the Tony Martin and Glen Hughes stuff as well!! The two new songs will blow you away!! My Only complaint is the booklet. Could they have messed it up anymore? Trying to read it takes some time cause you start on page 3 then go to the back, then to the middle then back to page 1 then back to the back and finally end in the middle again! I know it's just an editing problem but come on guys. Try reading the booklet before you send it out to the public. I highly recomend this album, but you've been warned about the liner notes!!

Two legends together again, and for a fabulous cause!!
I have always thought it a shame that Tony Iommi and Ian Gillan only had 1 album together (Black Sabbath's Born Again) so it is awesome that they chose to collaborate again. While they only have a couple of new tunes on this, you can still feel the magic they had together 25 years ago!! Then add in all the other great tunes from Glen Hughes, Tony Martin and rare Gillan, this is a must have for anyone that has followed this genre of Rock!!Don't forget, the proceeds from this purchase are going to building a new Music School for children in Armenia with construction scheduled to be completed in 2013. Rockers Unite and show your support!!!

WHO CARES Gillan & IOMMI 2012
this is an amazing item and all procedes go to help the earthquake victims of Armenia with a charity tune called out of my mind, with a host of other musicians like Nicko Mcbrain drummer from Iron Maiden, Ex metallica bassist Jason Newstead, and The late great John Lord, also HIM guitarist who happens to be dating Tony Iommi's daughter, this 2 disc contains some previously unreleased tracks and some others that featured both Gillan & Iommi, from the Black Sabbath thrashed album, also Iommi and Glen Hughes, as well as Gillan band and a unrealesed Deep Purple track! a real treat for charity, and fans alike!
