I recently bought this fillet knife and have been really impressed with the overall quality and performance. The blade is extremely sharp right out of the package and makes cleaning and filleting fish much easier and faster. It glides through fish smoothly with very little effort, and the flexible blade helps make clean cuts without wasting meat. Whether cleaning smaller panfish or larger fish, it handled everything very well. The handle feels comfortable and secure in your hand, even when it gets wet, which is important when cleaning fish for long periods of time. The knife also feels lightweight but still sturdy and well made. I used it on several fishing trips already and the blade has stayed sharp much longer than I expected. The material is very high quality as well. For the price, this is a great value and performs just as well as some more expensive fillet knives I’ve used before. It’s easy to control, sharp, durable, and gets the job done efficiently. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone who enjoys fishing and wants a reliable fillet knife without spending a lot of money.

The packaging on this knife made me feel like I was opening a $100+ knife. The handle of the knife is big, has tons of grip and feels very safe in your hand. The blade is beyond sharp and great flexibility. I filleted 4 crappie yesterday and got more meat of the fish than I ever have. You could totally see through the fish once done. For the price I am overly satisfied with this knife.

The blade seems good, slightly springy, with a nice protective coating on the blade. I won't know how well it holds its edge until I've used it awhile. Most knife handles that have indentations for where the fingers wrap around the handle have 4 indentations since the thumb does not go there. This knife has 5 finger indentations. Not sure why it was designed that way but to me it feels a little weird when trying to find a comfortable grip. You can hold it "forward" towards the blade or "back" towards the pommel of the handle. Trying to hold it in the middle definitely doesn't work for me. The handle *does* grip well, and would probably do so even if you are wearing gloves, which is important. The sheath is an absolute travesty and the manufacturer should be embarrassed to include it with the knife. Problems include: Belt straps are far too thin for a belt; there is NOTHING to help retain the knife so it falls out very easily; when inserting knife into the sheath it frequently catches on something and won't insert; and the sheath is solid meaning that trying to clean out any fish bits pushed in by the blade is going to be very difficult, possibly leading to leaving harmful bacteria in the sheath and on the blade after it's been in there for a bit. My personal advice is to just throw the sheath away and get a real one somewhere else. The box it came in makes a nice gift box. I would rather the manufacturer had used the money spent on the box to provide a usable sheath.

Purchased this based on some other good reviews and the price point. The grip is fairly large for my small hands, but it feels solid and sticky/textured enough not to slip with wet/slimy hands while working. The 7" has plenty of flexibility without being to limp. The blade fits well into the provided hard sheath and engages securely with an audible click when completely secured. The sharpness seems pretty good straight from the box. I'm looking forward to seeing how the edge retention holds up with continued use. So far, so good. I'd love to see this model in a smaller size like a 4-5" for more delicate work.

I have not yet used the knife on fish, only received the product today, and purchased due to ability of sheath to be strapped to PFD while kayaking and inclusion of a lanyard hole in the grip for the ability to add a floating lanyard. Also, white handle will stay cool in the sun. Many reviewers state the knife is loose in the sheath and falls out. I was ready for this to be the case with mine and make necessary modifications, but none are needed. Maybe they are not pushing the knife all the way into the sheath, as mine locks in very firmly and takes a similar amount of force to remove just as my river shorty emergency knives that are hung upside down on my PFD. The handle is very comfortable and the edge is factory sharp and sliced through paper no problem with a quick test. The white handle appeared dirty but was actually micro fuzz from where the top and bottom of grip contacted the fuzz coated protective packaging insert. The packaging is very nicely done, up there with top shelf bottles of scotch. Eagerly awaiting putting it to use on the locally stocked trout and even those fish in the river my state says not to eat.

After shopping several other options at different price points, we settled on the 7" Spartacus to replace an older, worn-out fillet knife. We are happy with it so far, the knife handles well and feels durable, and the blade has a good combination of flex and backbone. Very similar to a recent review from May 12, we were a bit concerned that the one we received didn't appear sharpened all the way to the tip -- it's slightly rounded at the end, and had pushed through the packaging when we unboxed it. But after sharing the attached photos with Kast King customer service, they said the knife is within specs and that their warranty would cover a replacement should issues arise.
